someone told me that they painted the upper part of clear taillight lenses
candy apple red

but there might have to do bulb relocating do i? if so how would do that?

i know the paint color is candy apple red but what type of paint or material do i used?

The brand of the paint is called Testors. You can find it at hobby stores since they use it for model cars and such. It's only like 3 bucks and make sure you get the clear coat to.

HEy man what ype of clear coat do you suggest, I got some krylon clear. I sprayed mine like 2 weeks ago and then clear them however the clear spat out globs of clear leaving little "bubbles" needless to say im getting a new pair of tails b/c of how the clear fucked them up....

I used Testor's clear coat, it worked out great for me, no globs or anything, just make sure you put a nice thick layer and guaranteed it won't fade.

so all you need to do is put a testors clear coat and clear taillight lenses
to create red/clear taillights
or do i have to relocate some bulbs?

so to make this clear.
all i haf to do to make mine taillights like those
is to:
buy tester candy apple red paint and apply directly on the top part
and clear coat it .
and for the bottom half
all i haf to do is to clear coat them
is that right??
please correct me..

if you truely want them red/clear and light up respectively, you gotta redrill holes and eliminate the stock holes. you also have to tear them apart, and put something in to divide them. its a pain in the ass but it can be done. ;) as for the holes, get a 1" drill, and drill the holes where you want them, then get out the good old pocket knife and try cutting the notches as close to stock as possible. oh yeah, you might have to do some creative hacking to the metal that is behind the taillight assembly in order to accomodate the new bulbs locations.

is there any way to get the orange out of the stock tails on the 90-91 sedan?

you know actually those tail lights look like tail lights off a 2nd gen integra. if you knew about body molding fiberglass it wouldn't be hard considering people transplant supra tail lights onto 92 style civic hatch back

All I know about body molding fiberglass is that it is expensive!:D

Well you have it all right except, dont put any paint on the bottom part, especially clear coat...putting clear coat on the clear section will make it yellowish....just leave the bottom section alone :)

Well I also used the Testors brand High Gloss clear cloat and I think it came out well. Only difference is I started out with some Generation 1 altezza style tail lights and marked off the bottom half with tape and painted the top the Candy apple red. Personally I think it is the best looking mod I have done. IF I had a working scanner I would post some pics.

This probably wasn't due to the paint. I've had this happen under 2 different circumstances. If your finger gets in the way of the spray from the nozzle on the paint can, the paint (or clearcoat) will build up on your finger, and the spray will then blow it off your finger in drops instead of a particulate mist... Another time, I bought a plastic pistol-grip attachment for aresol spray paint cans. It clips to the top of the paint-can, and when you pull the trigger, a lever pushes down on the spray nozzle. The problem with this is that the paint has to spray through a hole in the plastic attachment, and (just like with the finger example) paint builds up on the edges of the hole, then gets blown off as drops by the spray.

So If you had this problem, I'd imagine that your finger got in the way.

Just my $.02
