I have a roomate with a 96 mc. This car is currently sitting in a dealership service bay. The symptoms are power loss while driving, will not shift into OD. The latest is that it will stall and not restart, cranks but will not fire. Checked out the basics, fuel, spark. Dealer says that every thing is ok, but 30 mins after leaving the dealership it will quit. If I keep the car in goodwrench service, it is not a bad car. First c-note gets it!!!

Can you be more specific with your question? I can't figure out what you want here. Are you looking for a solution to your problem? Are you trying to sell the car? what? Are you trying to say that the car is only good when it is left at the dealer? THis MaKeS NO SenSE!

I believe Jag is frustrated, and is saying that the car won't act up at the dealer, but as soon as he picks it up, it does. It sounds like a crank sensor issue to me. If the car has a tachometer, does it drop to zero just before the car stalls, and does the trac-off light come on? If so, it's a crank position sensor issue. If your Monte is a 3100, there are 2 crank sensors, one behind the harmonic balancer, and one in the back of the block.

Thanks, I will look into that. It seems to acted up when it is cold, I guess. It has been fine all all summer. The last to winters have been trouble. The car does not have a tach. I am not sure on traction control light. Roomate's car, I don't drive it a lot.
