I have recently been making upgrades to my 1999 alero 3400 coupe. I added a kicker solobaric sub and I smoked the tailights. What is or are some really worth while engine upgrades. Cold air intake? Computer? ECU? Lowering springs? Exhaust? Etc. Brands/how they worked out for you, what made the most difference. Nothing too expensive but will show a difference. Thanks alot guys.

Welcome to AF!!
The biggest bang for your buck is to install a cold air intake and open up the exhaust. They will give the most performance with the least amount of work and cost. Good Luck!

Best performance upgrade? Buy a better car!
I've got a Borla cat-back and Eibachs. The sound is a little more throatier and the springs took it down an inch or so. Nothing over-dramatic though. I always wanted to do the stiffer sway-bars and strut tower braces, but I made the decision a long time ago to stop throwing unnecessary money at this car. My other wishful project was to cut louvres (a la Z3) into the drivers quarter and run a cold air intake from the MAF to the inside the fender well.

Lots of mods out there for th 3.4L V6. It is all relevant to how much you are willing to spend for the performance level.
DHP has introduced a re-programmed PCM for the Alero 3.4 for $99.00 plus core exchange. It will help take further advantage of intake and exhaust mods. I'm getting ready to pull mine and send it off.
I recently took delivery of an RSM 62mm throtttle body and polished and ported upper and lower intake manifolds from APoC. Cost for the new manifolds was hard to pass up.
Installed a Magnaflow hi-flow CAT last year.

No work in progress still. I got side tracked with my brother's Grand Am GT. We pulled his and sent it off. I'm waiting on it to make a final decision to see if it is worth doing.
BTW - The PCM is located in the center of the driver's side of the dash to the left of the steering column. Easy to get out once you remove the kickpanel.
