lq9 questions

with college and no steady job, time has become a serious issue now, so i dont want the added time with a big block swap in my car...for now atleast...so i'm back to the basic ls1 or lq9 swap idea. within the next 3 months i will have the swap ready...i dont want an ls1 because every (factory) 98-02 fbody v8 has one. my questions about the lq9 are 1)would it bolt up to a t56 fbody tranny? 2)what motor mounts and k member would i use? would an ls1 k member and mounts work or will the ones from the truck work? 3) oil pan, would an fbody oil pan swap over? 4) intake, would swapping an ls6 intake work to make it fit under the hood? 5) wiring and computer, would the trucks wiring work or would an ls1 wiring harness work with that, or would i need a custom one? 6) the computer, with wanting a 6 speed transmission, would the ls1 computer work if it was tuned for the 6.0? 7) what if any of the accessories would have to be relocated that anyone knows of? 8) any other things i should know or be aware of with the lq9 swap? sorry for the long post, but any help is appreciated!

you can hier a hit man to "make your car dissapear" and that way you collect the money and buy a v8. I work for a low cost, lol, just kidding.

i dont want an ls1 because every (factory) 98-02 fbody v8 has one.
LS1 > LQ9
At least in stock form.
1)would it bolt up to a t56 fbody tranny?
Yup.
2)what motor mounts and k member would i use? would an ls1 k member and mounts work or will the ones from the truck work?
To fit your car...LS1 mounts and LS1 K-member.
3) oil pan, would an fbody oil pan swap over?
Yup.
4) intake, would swapping an ls6 intake work to make it fit under the hood?
Yup. Although with the extra bore the LSx intake is nice.
5) wiring and computer, would the trucks wiring work or would an ls1 wiring harness work with that, or would i need a custom one?
I believe you would need the LS1 computer. Although, from my understanding, they are mostly the same. Not 100% on this one.
6) the computer, with wanting a 6 speed transmission, would the ls1 computer work if it was tuned for the 6.0?
Make sure the computer you use is matched to the tranny.
LS1 computer can easily be tuned for use with the 6.0 LQ9.
7) what if any of the accessories would have to be relocated that anyone knows of?
Alternator.
8) any other things i should know or be aware of with the lq9 swap?
That block is heavy.
LS1 block is about 80 pounds lighter. Makes a decent difference. I kept my A/C off because of that.
The LQ9 block is basicly an iron LS1/LS2. Some sensor locations are different though between the LS1 and LS2 though. I also say that pretty loosely.

too fuckin' funny lol...i have more question, my mom said she'd give you a blow job willingly if you answer more questions i have about that.
1)radiator, will the stock ls1 radiator work?
2)springs, will they need upgraded from the stock ls1's? since the engine is heavier than an ls1.
3)fuel pump, will an ls1 fuel pump work or will i need a better one?
i'm sure i'll come up with more, but those will work for now

i'm not curtis, but i will give u my bestest edumacated guesses :icon16:
1) it would prolly work, but now you have a cast iron block instead of an alluminum ls1 block, once the mods go on you may be pushing the limits of a stock radiator thats meant for alluminum blocks... so i would upgrade it anyway just to make sure... besides i found some aftermarket ls1 radiators that are better cooling for less that dealer radiator price
2)you will prolly have a meaner stance if you use ls1 springs... but ride quality will go down a bit since the springs aren't riding at their intended ride height, if you want a good stance but good performance too... get some aftermarket springs that lower the car, made for ls1 cars...
3) well if you plan on goin improving on stock lq9 performance, then yes, go better, because if you are gonna have to drop the tank to swap out fuel pumps anyway, go big, get a walboro 255lph fuel pump, then you'll never have to drop the tank again...
i want my blowjob now, and if you have any more questions, please first add them to my blowjob credit :icon16:

oh and yes stock v8 gauges will work fine if you get them out of a car that had the same tranny you're gonna use, and if you are using an ls1 wiring harness and an ls1 pcm

basically the point i was making is just that if hes going to have it apart (like the tank he'll have to drop anyway) theres no reason to just put a stock ls1 pump, when he could upgrade... and i was just takin a guess w/ the radiator... but it also wouldn't hurt to get a better one, just in case his lq9 runs hotter...

I bet. Done any burnouts? By accident?? :p
Mr. Luos
03-07-2006, 07:21 AM
Yup.
Step on it with cold tires in either 1st or 2nd and they burn up. From as low as 2500 RPM's in first.
Gonna take some time to get used to, and I can't wait to have 315's on the rears.
