I'd go 90-120 seconds but it depends on what turbo you have and how hard you're running it.

i have just a basic stock turbo, with minor mods, and i run is "semi-hard"

30 seconds is more than enough for normal driving, if you have been driving "hard" 1-2 minutes and if you have been doing a lot of racing or long highway driving I would say around 5 minutes.
Truthfully I use mine the most to have my car warm up with doors locked on cold mornings. lol. ;)

you need it for about 1 second. You have a water-cooled turbo.

Yeah, but you need it to give it time to get the hot oil out of the turbo so it doesnt coke right?

coke???
EDIT--->>> Were you trying to say cook????
The only thing that I have heard about why you allow time for cooling(with or without a TT) is for when you have done some serious driving and got the bitch hot. If you dont allow the turbo to cool down slowly with the oil moving through the center cartridge, then you run the risk of "scalding" (for lack of a better word) the oil onto the bearings. That would ruin the CC. I think kevin posted in a thread i had talking about TT a couple of years ago. I will try and find it.
EDIT2---> I found the threads, but Kevin must have posted in a different one than the ones I started.:dunno:

That my friend, is commonly referred to as "coking" ;). I think the oil actually breaks down and clogs shit up because of going from really hot to cold right away. I think I read that on tuners, if I werent going to bed right now I would search a bit and find it.

To add to crunchymilk statement, (that is so funny to type, your name) If it is water cooled.. why would mitsu put on the cars to let the car cool down?
Yes i know it is water cooled so don't blast that

Despite the turbo being water cooled it's a good idea to let it tt, technically it should be fine, but why risk it?
As for the time, the timer should calculate how much time based on the rpms, if you sit at a light it goes down if you're driving really hard it goes up. On my talon the greddy tt would go up to 8 minutes if i was on the highway for a while (thats a little much if you ask me)
