`73 Bavaria won't start

:banghead: I have a 1973 Bavaria. I had trouble getting it to start it would turn over, was getting gas, and power. A friend suggest running a wire from the battery to the coil, it worked like a charm except it would keep running after I turned the car off. To kill the car I would have to disconnect the wire. This lasted a year. Now it will not do anything, not even turn over. The battery is fully charged. Any ideas?
