Our "new" explorer has always had a rattle in the d/s window when it was all the way or partially down. Now the motor runs, but the window does not move. Can anyone tell me what I may need to purchase ahead of time to repair this? I don't have a lot of funds, or a garage to work in, so I'd like to do it all myself in one shot. Also, if anyone could give me a brief walkthrough of what I may be looking at once I get inside this thing?--(I'm not much of a car guy, but I consider myself mechanically competent) Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know too much about the new explorers but the way it sounds either the window is off the track or the teeth on the track or motor are broken or slipping. Your best investment is to go to the autoparts store and buy a haynes manual for your year vehicle. Then take the door panel apart, see what is broken and go from there.
