Help with suspension

i just installed some coilovers on my civic. when i installed them they weren't the same height as the shock they were a lot shorter(is this normal with coilovers?) now everytime i hit a pothole or something it hits really hard like something is about to break. could it be my shocks or what? btw the brand of my coilovers are "next" they have the exact same design as the ground controls with the single locking perch. could the coilover be my problem? let me know.

yes the coilover springs are shorter than oem springs. the ride will be rough. i suggest new shocks!
