I have done a search on this and Ive got a lot of my questions answered already, but I still need some advice.
My system is blowing hot no matter what, I understand that it could be the door stuck, or the actuator.
when I have the truck running I can hear this very quiet grinding noise, not all the time just every now and then. lasts about 3-5 seconds ..like its trying to open the door.
I have replaced the switches, and traced all the vac lines, "that was fun" all looks good.
Now what I am looking for here is any advice, pointers, instructions or any information that I can use to fix this......Thanks Guys.....

The door gear is stripped or is caught on something. Hence the gear grinding noise.

I might have been mistaken then.
I would see if someone can lend you the instructions for it. Some of the forum members have access to the automotive service manual library.

This sounds like a common problem. I had the same thing happen to my 98 jimmy with the electronic climate control. Took it to my mechanic and he said there was a motor in the dash that opens and closes the door and it was broken. I have no clue if this will help you but that was what was wrong with mine. Good Luck.

Ive got the lower part of the dash diassembled right now. I will tackle this project this weekend, taking pics along the way. it sure would be helpfull if I had some type of instructions to follow so I dont remove something that I dont have to, plus Know were everything is....I have a chiltons but it just gives a general idea of how to take the dash apart.

You might be able to get to the motor if you remove the glove box, (can't remember for sure). If not, ya gotta crane your neck way around and up to see the bolts, very close to the top of the kick panel, and it seems to me there's two bolts on each side that need to be removed. Once you've located them, if you put your hand in there to remove them, you can't see the bolts, just have to go by feel. I think it's a torx head, maybe 25 or 30. The bolt is in the same position as the passenger side, (tucked neatly out of the way). Don't forget to hold your tongue just right, and squint your right eye, kinda like this >>> ;)

If you're trying to pull the whole dash, There are two bolts at the bottom. (one on each side) they are 10mm. Below the steering column there are two "L" brackets, each bracket has 4 - 10mm bolts, you'll only need to remove the ones that are hard to get to. On top of the dash, there are 6 - 7mm screws. One under each speaker grill, and four under the defrost vent.
With that said, I'll have to look again when I get time, I was thinking that it could be accessed through the glove box.

nope...I wish it could I finaly got to the culprit. It is the blend door moter and the chevy dealer wants 187 bucks for it. oriely and autozone doesnt carry it. I found a junk yard that has 3 of them but ill have to remove it myself. I realy dont want to replace it with a used one. anyways I took it apart and the main geer is broke its not striped its just broke. any ideas were to find a new one? my truck is undrivable and I would hate to put it back together and have to tear into it again.

What a great idea to make your own gear. If mine goes bad, I'll probably make a mold with playdoh, then melt some of my plastic welding rods into the mold.
