I was just wondering if there were any ska/punk lovers on this website. I really do like rap but it seems like i've grown out of it, most rappers are the same rapping about killing, stabbing, money, and rape. Maybe I like the change of speed or something. But if anyone has some Ska/Punk recommendations that I should put on my lifting music please let me know. And if anyone knows if the ska band "Roper" is any good (Reese Roper formorly of Five Iron Frenzy) Live. I was thinking about hitting up one of their shows.

Hoo Ya,
Brian

Flogging Molly isn't as ska as they are punk IMO, but they're an awesome band...in my experience however, they're an acquired taste for some, but other people love em right away. (Me :) )

Seven Deadly Sins and Devil's Dance Floor by Flogging Molly are awesome songs! Sublime was the epitomy(sp?) of ska in my opinion. As far as punk, oldschool Greenday is my choice, none of their new emo kid related crap(not to be confused with the emo genre of music). Give "In The End" by GD a shot.

Lucky Boys Confusion, my favorite band of all time and quite possibly one of the best ska/punk bands ever.

oh yeah the transplants are wicked. I would say that they one of the best underground (non-sellout) bands right now.

Less Than Jake would be my fav. many good bands out there, though. Mighty Mighty Bosstones are ok, not my cup of coffee but w/e. yeah, flogging molly is kikass, so is dropkick murpheys. some sublime songs are ska-ish, though not really punk.

also, what you said about rap is just... wrong. but we won't get into that on again like the country music thread... just trust me, its wrong, and u'll prob catch flak for it.

i should've rephrased that...i mean that alot of it is negative and when you just read the lyrics alone you're thinking to yourself "wtf did this guy say"...i like the thinking man's hip hop and the old school stuff...kanye west, run dmc, LL cool J, Tupac....back when hip hop wasn't so commercialized and was raw...no offense to fans of hip hop....i love it too, i'm just fed up with the bling/killing rap....and some of the rappers are talking about kicking someones ass and they're tiny....like lil wayne...i don't think that he would stand much of a chance against 50 cent or someone of a large more "ass kicking" shape because 50 is actually physically a force... now that's not to say that slender people can't fight...rich franklin the UFC Champ isn't a big buff guy like say a Matt Hughes...but he's still explosive and quick on his feet and his technique is what makes him stronger overall than someone that is larger...
