Hello.
I have tried to goto Autozone, and get information about my problem...but the guy was clueless.
So here goes:
I have 94 pontiac transport, and both front door handles have let go from whatever they are connected to inside the door. I took the door panel off, and found a pipe shaped part with a weird shaped part on one end, and just the pipe on the other end. I also found a broken spring. I need information on how this all goes back together. Please reply with any information.
Thanks in advance.

I had same promblem. You have to take outside door handle off. Taking it out is easy but putting it back was quite difficult, unless you have small hands  The weird shaped part connects to door handle, and the spring goes between those parts. Reason why that weird part is dropped off is that parts are riveted together, and the rivet is now broken. I was able to repair it by drilling a small hole to middle of the rivet, and I then put a small screw to hold parts together. Other end of that pipe shaped part goes to the locking mechanism. There is a small hole where that pipe fits. Hope this helps.
I found this part from rockauto.com door handle (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/catalog.php?carcode=1261763&parttype=1024)

Don't bother with repairs. I fitted 2 new door handles to my 1993 Transport. Takes about 1 hour per door and the handle were very cheap, even from the USA to the UK.
Easy to remove the handles with a 10mm spanner, nightmare to put back though.
Tip: use a small telescopic magnet to hold nuts from dropping into door frame.
Tape new handles in place with gaffa tape to hold them tight while replacing the 10mm nuts. Put nut on end of magnet and feed into position on end of stud, then turn nut onto the thread using a long screwdriver blade. Its tricky but it worked for me. Also make sure the control rods are in the correct place before securing nuts to handle.

I totally agree with kingarthur2. If you can get newones easily, go for them. It's just my nature to try to repair everything
I also had a lot of problems trying to put last nut back. I tried everything, and finally I had to ask my wife to help. Her hand was so small it was very easy for her to do the job.
One hint: take a small lenght of a plastic hose that fits firmly on control rod. After you have put the rod in place, put the hose on to it's end. This will keep control rod from jumping from it's hole. I'm not sure if others have had this problem? This has happened to me at least three times, and after putting that piece of hose the problem has not happend since.

Thanks. I ended up taking the door handle off, and found the broken rivet. I will replace the rivet with a bolt/nut. This way it won't break again. This is a poor design from Pontiac in my eyes. Anyways thanks for your help.

I got the passenger door working great. The drivers door went together great, but when I pull the outside handle it doesn't seem to push the "pipe/rod" down far enough into the lock unit. Any ideas?

I have the manuals that show this information, but it doesn't show the part I'm talking about.
This is why I'm asking the questions here.

Ok I used a small plastic part to make the pipe push down into the lock unit as needed. It worked fine, but when I locked the door, and unlock them. The pipe gets stuck. Any ideas?
