Wrong car?? Nahh. My last geo's motor would run low 14's, all motor. No NOS or turbo. I'm in the process of building a new motor right now... She's gonna be quite a bit faster. Hopefully low 13's, high 12's when I get everything tuned and all the parts ready. Yea, I know I'm dumb :screwy: But hey, it's great to blow the doors off a mustang and see the look on his face :naughty:

#1 Muffler, I got mine from J C Whitney for less than 20.00, cherry bomb style, sounds great, goes faster.

Oh yeah, mustangs can haul ass if someone puts the money into them. But, what I've noticed is if you do put a little power into them, all they do is break rear ends and axles like they were made of wood. To get a mustang to do 10's, you'd have to have about $12,000 into it though. They need a LOT of headwork, better rods, a better cam, and just basically a whole new motor. Gotta admit, the stock 5.0 was a piece. 220hp out of a 5.0L v-8 is pretty laughable. A stock 1/4 mile time in the mid 15's. I only put a little over $2000 into my vert, including the cost of the car ;). Not to mention that last motor I had in my vert got me over 35mpg. Let's see a 5.0 do that. A stock fox gets about 15-17mpg on a good day. Not to mention they burn oil like a pig once they get 80k on them.

Lol, alright. I'll take my metro against a mustang 5.0 on a road course anyday. I've rarely seen a 5.0L mustang going down the road without a cloud of purple smoke behind it. The ones that don't have freshly been rebuilt. This is not a battle of who's is better like you have made it. This is a 220hp 5.0 vs a 150hp 1.3 :screwy: The geo weighs less than half of a fox body. Less weight=easier cornering. Look at the Lotus Elise. 180hp.. But, it's only 1900lbs, and can do 1.06 lateral G's. It's not till 2006 that the mustang could pull .9g's. A stock swift GT does .87 all day long bone stock, in 1989! Not to mention it whooped the corvette back then in the slalom, with nothing but poly bushings in the suspension, and a pair of strut bars. The mustang is a great 1/4 mile car. No doubt. Ever see a mustang on a road course? Never. If you want to do a more apples to apples comparison.. Let's take a 4 cylinder turbo mustang -vs- a 4 cylinder swift gt. Stock 4 banger mustang does a 17.4 1/4 mile Stock swift gt does low to mid 16's. Now, consider this is a 1.3L vs a TURBOCHARGED 2.3L. Now, take that low 16's, and compare it to a car with twice the cylinders, and almost 4 times the displacement.. The 5.0. Does a 14.8 stock. Not bat at all. So, let the swift have a turbo to make up for a severe lack of displacement and half the cylinders. DMWdave(of redlinegti) did this, and he ran low 11's. And still had the ability to handle(watched many of his autocross videos) and make it more than 170 miles on a tank of gas  . So it stands. The swift/metro is a car better suited to track racing. The mustang is a line rocket. Thats the way american -vs- jap cars has always been, and probably will always be. American muscle.. Heavy, low hp/L, huge engines, leafsprings.. Jap cars... high-hp/l, no torque, high revving, well balanced, lightweight. Besides. Throw a supercharged 5.0 into a metro, and you would have one FAST little ride. But, it would handle like ass because of the massive amount of cast iron chilling under the hood. And I would kill to see a stock 5.0 rev up to 9500 RPM's without exploding, lol.

Lol, throw $60,000 at any car and it'll go around a track like that. I seem to remember a motor trend article of a 2004 Mustang Cobra R vs a vette vs a viper. The cobra got spanked BAD, in every category. And it cost more than the vette. I wouldn't call a new mustang cobra a legend at all. It's pretty pathetic for what you pay. For the same price, you could buy a BMW M3. And the M3 doesn't need a supercharger, or a V8 to dominate. Here's an older article back in 2000, showing the cobra R falling behind pretty bad. http://www.stangbangers.com/00_CobraRvsCorvetteZ06vsViperRT10_Article.htm
Oh yes, the video. Here's his 11.24 video. I can't find the 11.08 one anymore. Also notice that's an uphill track ;)
http://www.rdihost.com/zuboo/Movies/dmw1124.mpg
And remember ,that's a 1.3L :icon16: Not a big ass v8. Now, for the apples to oranges comparison again with the "cobra" comment. That's a $12,000 swift, vs your "legendary" $58,000 SVT Cobra. And it's still faster ;). I almost bought a cobra a couple years ago. One test drive, and it was the numbest feeling car i've ever driven. No feeling of the road, all it wanted to do was go sideways with every shift, and I can't even imagine driving that in the snow or rain. Window sticker also showed me 14mpg :screwy: Mustangs are pricey, especially for what you get. Yes, you can get a mustang to do 9's. But at what cost. You can get a metro to do 9's too, and probably at a cheaper price, and looking unique, vs the "everyone's got a mustang" crowd.
Here's a video of a metro doing a 9.35@147 too ;) Loaded with a v-6
http://www.zippyvideos.com/50637905832485.html That's Metro SS on teamswift. And apparently he only put a couple grand into building that one.
Shows ya any car can be fast. Just gotta be open minded about it. Not all "my car is the best, and that's final" like the mustang and civic crowd always do. There is no "best car ever" Especially a Ford :icon16: I mean, what can you say about a company that grounded the whole fleet of $155,000 Ford GT's due to a recall, because the control arms were failing! Who builds a $155,000 car that has sub-standard parts??? Oh yea. Ford..
http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/news/industry-news/ford-gt-recall-blamed-on-casting-process-033672.php
The viper costs half that, and is just as fast, and doesn't fall apart when you're driving it ;) Only when dumb rich folk run them into trees and telephone poles. Now, we have to see how the new GT500 mustang does when it comes out. It's already lookin REAL good. Hopefully this new mustang is Ford's way of making a turn for the better, cause the new one kicks ass, and looks damn good too. Oh, and the 911 turbo thing. I would love to see a mustang keep up with a 911 turbo that was actually trying. Fact remains, the 911 turbo is AWD, mid-rear engine, light, low, has gigantic multi-piston brakes, and has REALLY wide tires. Oh yea, it's only a flat 6 too. The mustang has a live rear axle, thinner tires, is nose heavy, and has awful brakes. Don't taint a Porsche by putting it in the same categoy as a Mustang :banghead: I think the Germans would roll over in their graves, lol.

Lol, that "dirty" block was hot tanked, and I had all the surfaces checked at Livernois Performance(same people that built my engine head). I doubt they'd give me a poorly done block. They are one of the best hot-rod shops in Michigan. So if you're gonna diss the gasket surface, take it out on them. I would never put a high-comp engine together on a "dirty" surface. The only way make it shine is to have it decked. Seeing as the pistons barely cleared the deck height, the top of the block was perfectly flat, and the head was already decked .020", I opted to not deck the block and risk the pistons colliding with the head. Why would I take metal off a perfectly flat surface that seals just fine? Thanks for calling me a hack though. Even though that "dirty" block I'm selling was in an excellent running car for an entire summer. I'm selling it because I purchased a turbo setup from Jess on Teamswift, and the high compression aluminum pistons weren't gonna cut it for a 10+psi setup. Also, the decked head with the overly aggressive cams weren't gonna do it either. I need a low-mid powerband on a turbo, not a 9500+RPM setup. I've rebuilt and installed anything from a punched out 454 with a roller cam and aluminum rockers using vette' heads into a 71' Nova, to my old 2.2L, 11.17 second 1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z, to several swift GTi's, to dozens of metro engines and GTi swaps. Get to know your fellow car people a bit more before calling them a hack because a block didn't shine. Besides, if you really knew me, you'd know I start a new project every year or so. Wether it's a whole new engine, or a new add-on.
Besides, if I was gonna sell the block because it was messed up, I sure as hell wouldn't sell it to someone in my teamswift community. I'd stick it on ebay and pretend it never existed. That'd be like selling your old and busted used car to your best friend. You know it would come back to haunt you. The parts I "messed up on" get thrown in the trash. Like the block that broke last year. In a rush, I didn't properly torque down my engine mount bolts, and one was partially stripped. Needless to say it backed out, and there were only 2 bolts holding the mount to the block.. It then started to move around and snapped a nice chunk off my fresh engine block. That's why I built my "hack" of a new block. I learn from my mistakes, not sell them off to others. And now, there definately residue on it. Because it's USED. When was the last time you bought a used engine block that was freshly machined, rebuilt, and tanked, for less than $1500?
And the Puegot thing, hell yea they rock. It's a shame we can't get them here in America though. Perhaps the reason they can produce so much power, and be so light and fast, is because they don't comply with strict U.S. emissions standards, and crash test standards.. Similar to why it took almost 10 years for the EVO Lancer to come to America, with way less power, and a few extra pounds. And yes, I've owned plenty of American iron. I've had a 91' Camaro, 88 Daytona(mistu-american), 94 concorde, 01' Malibu, 98 Dakota, 99 F-150, and a Dodge Dynasty(oops :banghead: ). It wasn't till countless transmissions, recalls, water pumps, headgaskets, etc.. till I stopped buying them. My malibu went lemon in less than 9 months. And my f-150 got recalled for exploding fuel injectors  . Being a Camaro owner, I saw the mustang crowd quite a lot. I also remember towing my camaro home several times for random stuff breaking, just as a normal daily driver, and seeing dozens of mustangs snap axles like twigs, and blowing differentials to shreds at Milan. Where did you get your info on the swift being American inspired? I've never read about that before. I'm interested in checking that out though.
The metro convertible as a matter of fact is a bit more rigid than a hatchback. It's got several floorpan reinforcements(hence why it's a bit heavier). It handles way better than my GTi ever did. It gets a lot less wheel-hop, and a much lower center of gravity. And who can beat the wind blowing in your hair on a nice summer day. I never take videos of my car "racing" simply because I don't condone street racing, nor do I participate in it. And if I do ever decide to lay some rubber, I don't whip out my video camrea and leave one hand off the wheel. That's how you hit and kill people. Besides, a 14.4 isn't anything to be super-proud about. It's quick, but there's plenty of cars out there that will kick it's ass. I've had way faster 1/4 mile cars. So I didn't bother doing a ricer video of me doing burnouts in a parking lot, destroying my Toyo's. I already ruined one set of tires on Woodward. They get expensive after a while :grinyes:

And what's with the personal attacks? I was commenting on a car. Not you. Did I ever say a single word about you as a person? Did I ever attack your mechanical skill or integrity? No. This is a car forum, not a flame fest. I know you're a more mature person than that, I've seen all your posts. Please act like it, and don't let a stupid internet argument get the best of you. It's just the internet man. Relax. :smokin:
Oh, and iheartguysinmetros.. If you have something to add, please do. You're wasting space with your posts with nothing but quotes.

I'd just like to ask who has donated more time and knowledge to this forum. Oh yes.. You just signed up to extend the thread :shakehead Looks like AF is going down the tubes like the honda forums do. No wonder I stick to Teamswift. And the "novel" I wrote, contains information, not some little kid quoting stuff that they have no idea what it means :screwy:
Thanks for the appreciation of all the help I've given hundreds of people on this section over the past couple years... Wasn't till the kiddies came along that this stuff happens. The second you put "mustang" or "honda" it shows up in google, 14 y/o's find it, and then start acting like fools. Or is DieInterim creating new names to "anonymously" try and flame, lol. Grow up. It's a car forum.

Teenie bopper fan club? You crack me up Blake. Teamswift is a community of people who professionally race cars, build cars, and professional machinists/manufacturers. That's true, I did typo the cardomain page, it is .020" off the head. .030" and the mill would start taking out the combustion chamber. I'll be changing that page over soon anyway for the new project. Besides, do you think I'd spend all that money on my block if it wouldn't seal properly?(ya know, cause all of it's "debris") :screwy:
http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/
They did tease me about how small the engine was though, asking me if I was mounting it to a go-kart, lol. They are more into big bad high output V8's.
Go back to playing HL2, DoD, and playing with your XJ6's. You seem better at that. Oh yes.. Almost forgot..

I've dedicated way more to this forum than you have. And a ton more to TS. This is an excellent community, without people like you who start fights, and hammer at people with personal insults. But keep the insults coming if that's how it gets done. Cause ya know, that's very "grown up" of ya. And where's my link for how the Americans inspired the Japanese to make a small displacement engine for fuel efficiency??  Cause ya know, they never would have thought of that themselves!
EDIT: Oh yes, I don't have pictures of the head, because I put it on the car immediately after I brought it home.

His posts aren't mostly links to what more intelligent people have posted somewhere else. In fact, he encourages people to learn.

Lol. On the "remote linking" thing.. Yes, I link to articles that have already been written. Why would I write it again when it's already been discussed? :screwy: Doctorbill also creates some nice articles that should be made into sticky topics, so the same crap doesn't get discussed over and over again. The articles are similar to a "Wiki". If you don't know one is, google it. They are thought out, discussed by many, and many people add to them. The knowledge of many is always more than the knowledge of one.

You seriously need to consider laying off the caffiene. You take this stuff way too seriously. And when did I say I snapped axles in half? :screwy: That'd take over 400hp!(kind of extreme for a little engine) DMWdave ran stock axles in his 300hp swift.. And when did legal stuff come about? :screwy: Yes, the cops are gonna lock me up for saying "wanna touch my light saber"...
As for scorning the honda fans.. The ones that don't get all raged over my comments are the ones who know the way the newbie kids act. Not all of them are immature idiots. But a lot of them act just like you are. Acting as they know the world, and everyone else is dumb, and should bow to you. Then they resort to swearing, insults, personal attacks, etc.. How can you talk about kids disrespecting everything, when you have respect for nobody?
I am a moderator on TS because I have donated a lot of time, knowledge, and proven I can handle a position to keep the boards in-line, and on-topic. I also offer useful information, write-ups, and experience that I can share with fellow metro/swifters. I answer my PM's, I don't insult, and I act like an adult. I goof around every once in a while, because it's always fun to have a little humor around. Keeps things interesting.
The guys on TS are laughing at you because you're acting like an enraged kid who just got a keyboard and the internet. From what I can see in google, you're an older gentlemen, who enjoys programming, and knows a good deal about cars. You even enjoy higher class vehicles like Jag's and BMW's. Which means you're educated, and have a pretty good taste in cars. How can such an educated person with so much experience with life, go bucknuts over a geo argument? It baffles me.
And I've said about my car's times... And I've said this many many times in the TS boards.. I never got a chance to get slips. Never had a chance to take it to Milan Dragway. My best results are a few steady runs on a G-tech(advertised in big letters in the for sale section too). So I wasn't hiding anything. If I left anything out, I didn't mean to. I'm really lost as to what you're so pissed off about. Take a pill man. Seriously. Car forum.. Forums are for discussions, not pointing fingers and calling other people names, and attacking them..
This thread is pointless. And you don't even realize how you sound. I'm gonna be the bigger person and walk away from this before you get banned, or in any legal trouble. I've already notified the admins and Yahoo about your "stalkerish" tendancies. And I have your email headers stored in my server. You're a smart person. You shouldn't take this any further than you already have.

Honestly you are right, how did I lose it. I dunno I have seen many people on Usenet lose it and I would say "What a shame". Now it has happened to me.
I am not too big of a man to admit he fell of the freaking bed and smacked his head. I admitted to my wife that I feel empty inside, even though I felt justified somehow. We both got riled and neither was going to back off.
It all my fault and I could have just overlooked the differences we had. I know you possess good knowledge and are helpful, I understand now that those pics are representative of the lower end being left after you sold it and not of rebuild time. Pictures are worth a thousand words and its easy to see how one could make assumptions from the pictures. Which brings me to remember my math teachers mantra- If you assume you then make an ass out of u and me.
I know I am unnder tremendous pressure to meet all the demands placed before me, and I picked you Geo as my outlet. I hope you can forgive me. I'm sorry.
Hours ago I wrote the admin to review my posts and told him that I would understand if I was to be banned, and perhaps that was my underlying hidden drive was to be banned. I know for a certainty that I have fallen to the same madness that eventually befalls hardcore posters.

So maybe now we will go back to discussing how to fix cars? Not really wanting to add my two cents, but honestly, think of how much time just got put into not helping ANYBODY. Nobody feels good about this whole thing. And one last thing. When was the last time that somebody ended up being wrong because somebody said they were, The truth is the truth, and arguing about it never changed it.
Now somebody show your level of maturity by quoting my post with a smiley face blowing my brains out at the bottom...

Have you tried double clutching? That may help while
you figure out what is going on. How long has it been
since a gear oil change? This is easy to do with a 3/8
drive ratchet, and the oil is cheep. I used to have to
weight over 5 minute for my gear oil to warm up in the
winters. I think someone wo owned the car before me
had used the wrong weight. It was a good forearm
workout!
Since this is a new question, you should start a new

The honda shifters require a bit of custom work, but nothing you can't do with a dremel, and a few nuts, bolts, and washers. I have an integra one in my convertible. Makes the feel of the shifter MUCH more accurate. Those 20hp chips are pretty much a resistor you replace your air temp sensor with. It creates a rich condition which may give you 1-2hp, but kill your gas mileage and will fill your engine with soot and carbon. Your stock 3cyl intake pipe is a cold air intake. Notice it goes into your fender, where the air box resides. The stock 3cyl has such a small throttle body, that putting in a "performance" intake won't make any difference at all, and you'll end up sucking in hot air from the engine compartment. Maybe a K&N filter for a small gain. But it will be a small one.

Hey All, been lurking here for a little while, so After this I should go to the newby section to say "Hey".
But....
I dont need to go 100+ in my metro. its a metro and thats not why I like it. but I would like to be able to hold the 75 mph speed when traveling down the freeway.
Went to TN (from MN) and I would be doing 85 down the sloping hills and then 70 up them. It was really annoying. (HA HA HA did get the little rollor skate up to 90ish down one of them longer hilld in WI.)
what do you think, I cant imagion a better intake. its only a little 3cyl. maybe some exhaust?
or maybe a t30 turbo with a 400 shot nitrus? :naughty:
HA HA HA just kidding. :licka:

well because of the gear ratio that the car has it probably wont do much better than the 90 down and 70 up but increasing the horsepower might help it some. and as for my post the other night dont mind me i was having a dumb moment from lack of sleep :)

Count yourself lucky to do 70 up a hill! My 95'3 cyl slows to about 80 km/h (50 mph) up hills when I drive though the rockies. I get funny looks cause I go down them at 130km/h (80mph)

ha ha ha 50 up hill in the rockys is not bad. When I was younger we lived in LA and had a 1970 vw beetle. there were spots going through the moutains that we had to do it in reverse.
Around here we have rolling hills. not a 90 deg slope! HA HA HA
