I have a 98 I bought used. The code was supposed to be on the module located in the compartment where the jack is stored. I found the module but never located the code. Although it's not easy to see. Perhaps with a flashlight and mirror I could have. But knowing how I am I guessed the previous owner wrote it down somewhere. I found it on one page of the owners manual. Just a thought.

I have a 2001 Explorer and like you bought it used with no access code. I located mine on the computer module where the jack is stored. Drivers side rear panel. You'll need a flashlight and a young kid to stick their head half way in there to read the damn thing. The tag for mine was right on top of the module and slightly sideways. Code is 5 numbers. Hope maybe this will help you.

On a 2003, its a pain, but it was found on the passenger door side, seat belt panel. (four door)

Had to pry out on the panel, and read it with my mechanics mirror off the module there. (backwards) I'm not kidding!

Royal pain. But, I suppose it needs to be to prevent theft. Personally, I've lived w/o a keyless entry for 30+ years, never needed one. Can't miss what you've never had. (power anything, automatic tranny, rain leaker moon roof, etc.) I use vehicles for transportation, not my living room.

I've never had problems with automatic trans, power windows, power anything. Never owned one either.

If ya like to dance to fiddle music, ya have to pay the fiddler!

After reading this post, I was able to find my code - rear panel where jack is located. It was NOT easy to find, but I got it. Thanks to all of you for posting this. I thought I was "hosed" - I could only get the lock function to work (pressing 7/8 & 9/0 simultaneously). Now I can get into the truck without the use of the keys! Hooray!
