as far as i know, neither of those engines will work. most honda engines spin counter-clockwise, unlike conventional motors. honda is now starting to flip their motors over so they sping clockwise. the f20 and the k20 both spin clockwise because the motors are flipped. the f20 is also a RWD motor, making it cost 10 times as much to get installed. the k20 is the rsx motor i believe and is flipped so that the intake is at the front and the exhaust points to the back. this means it spins clockwise rather than counter-clockwise. with the tranny you have now, you would have 1 gear forward and 5 gears backward. with enough money those motors could be installed, but that money would be better spent on a b16 or b18. stay simple and things will be a lot easier.

You can find the K series engines at JDMhondaparts.com they are selling for about 8 grand right now.

The k series swap has been done from what I have heard on a mid 90's civic as well as a 02 civic. Obviously serious reconfiguration and money was done to get it into a civic that isn't made for that engine, but it was a drop in for the new civic. The 02 civic type r has the k20 engine in it. Some major aftermarket company did the swap on the 02 civic. Do a search on www.honda-tech.com You should find info about both swaps. You are talking some serious money to drop in a K series engine into a sol, since it has different motor mounts, spins clockwise versus counter clockwise, and different suspension issues, as well as othe issues. If you won the lottery and have money to burn then shit go for it, but it's going to take some series money to get it done. Maybe in another couple of years someone will come up with a conversion kit for the k series to go into our cars, but only time will tell.
If you have the money to spend for a K series engine then you can certainly afford a b18c-5 with all the goodies for a lot less. The c-5 will give you close hp/tq numbers as the k series, with a lot less headache mentally and financially.
Congrats on the sol purchase. What model did you get S, Si, or VTEC? There were only a little over 5500 sols made in 97. Out of that only 750 VTEC models.

b18-c5 definitely sounds like your best bet, besides there are a lot more aftermarket parts available for that.
