Chirping Noise

Hi,
I have a 95 STX 4.0 that has a little chirping problem. Its a high pitch chirping noise that I thought was the belt, but I replaced that and it still chirps. It doesnt do it all the time. It does it for a couple seconds when I start it up and sometimes when I accelerate harder, and then it chirps for a while. Someone told me it might be the belt tensioner. Does this sound right? How do I fix it?
Thanks for the help
Eric

It could be your belt tensioner or your idler pulley. Either one you should be able to pick up at almost any auto parts store. Or you could by one directly from Ford at www.Fordparts.com (http://www.Fordparts.com). Click on the OEM parts catalog, put in your Info and do a search for the part. Should cost you about $25.00 from there.

if its not the idler pullys then it could be the bearing in the a/c compressor. i have to lube mine once a month to get rid of the squeel when it's damp or rainny out. is it possible the noise is when the a/c clutch engauges?

Would it still chirp though even if the AC is off?
Thanks

mine did. it was more of a squeek/squeel though. try some lube in the small grove between pully and clutch next to belt.
