Motor mount and oil pan replacement

Ok well a few more questions for ya'll. I replaced my axles and discovered the reason for the pass side failure. The psteering leaked the previous owner had must have been a leak for a very long time. The fluid ate through the rubber of the front engine mount. The front of the engine dropped down some and the axle rubbed a spot into the frame. I am planning on replacing the mount tonight and I was wondering if anyone knew a secret to removing the bracket and mount assembly. I know the book way but was hoping for a simpler way.
Also he had hit something with the oil pan, will the new style cast alum. oil pan fit my 97 gtp? We have a 3800 series two core sitting at the shop, since I need to raise the engine to do the mount I figured I would replace the pan now.
Thanks John

The GM computer shows all 97-03 Vin-K (normally aspirated) and Vin-1(supercharged) 3800's using the same oil pan.

Ok this one must be an 04 or 05 then, it is definately a different oil pan. I'll just have to go back and change it later, thanx

It would have to be. Pontiac went to a lot of cast aluminum on the SIII 3800. Not sure about the oil pan but they did on stuff like the UIM plenum. I have an aftermarket cast aluminum with the MSP label. Extra capacity, cooling fins and drain plug so that would be an option but they are hard to come by nowadays.

The GM computer shows the 04-05 using the same gasket, pick-up screen and oil level sensor as the 97-03, so unless it would interfere with the sub-frame, they should be intechangeable.

cool I am pulling the mount now so I will do some measuring and see. I will post the findings here, in case someone needs to do the same thing.
