every one has a preference in auto maker. ussually we hear this most between the 3 american heavy weights ford, chevy, and dodge. where did this start? another section is import v domestic. now that i care about, im into domestic cars. just something about the mustang, camaro, and charger that screams muscle. but i also like import, i like dsm's, nissan, bmw, just to name a few. but there are people out there that are really into this. why?

Why are people so hardcore about sports teams?

Same principle. If you were raised and taught to love a certain thing, you will. Thats the case for most ignorant car lovers. Once they're taught to love a certain car all others are obsolete. Other true car lovers realize every kind of car (domestic, import, euro) have their own strengths and weaknesses but may still have their own favorite.

For example, I love imports. But specifically the actual Japanese Sports cars. Then after that I like Euros cuz of the styling most of the tuned ones show. Lastly domestics. Except for a few exceptions it seems like all they're good at is going fast and straight. Just my opinion though.

I grew up in a country where you didn't have your American 'domestic' vehicles around, so I like what I grew up around, you're going to hold that against me?

I like all cars, domestic or import. But they all have their strengths and their weaknesses. If someone is discriminating any type of car, or the place of the cars origin, well, thats due to their own reasons i guess.

I really have no preferance to Domestics or Imports. I like cars, trucks, suvs, and vans of all kinds. No brand preferance here either and I can't really hate a car (or brand) till I know about it. I have respect for all cars if its nice so no respect for a junker. My favorite car will be whatever it is I'm driving (unless its some pos and I don't drive pos.)

I was never raised to really like one brand more than any other. My parents just happen, by the time I was born, to have turned into GM only people. They had everything else and always got lemons. I was a big Chevy kid growing up. But been in bed with Ferrari's since I saw a neighbor drive by in a Testarossa when I was 3. Been addicted to exotics and european cars since.

Next car....BMW.

i have no brand prefrence, it's the individual car.

For instance, I love the Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon, yet hate the Ferrari Superamerica POS. There are brands, however, that have consistently produced individual models I love, and brands that have made very few or no models I like, yet I'm always willing to accept a product of theirs. Hell, even BMW has managed 2 or 3 good ones!

Bottom line: If you prejudiciously discriminate against any brand, or any country, you're only depriving yourself. Be open. :)

im my family we've had so many different cars, with a wide spread of different brands. so we dont say "well we've had a bmw before so we'll only have one next" it's what car is best suited to what we want from the car. we're all willing to give other brands a chance.

i think there's a big prejudice towards diesel cars still. i'm in favour of diesel, i know lots of people wouldn't even consider a diesel.

VW, Mazda, Toyota, Nissan

Nothing like US's 'big 3', thankfully.

:iagree:

I've found my idol.

Out of the "big 3" i obviously prefer dodge. Its not because i was raised to or forced to. Merely because of the style they bring to the table. I think between 94-05 they make the sexiest fullsize pickup truck on the market. Now if someone wants to rag on Dodge go ahead. Its YOUR preference, not mine. I see the flame wars all the time over _____ and _____.

The auto industry is one giant cock off. Welcome to the economy.

I've grown up in a Ford family we haven't owned anything but Fords for the past 14 years and we have never had any problems other than the usual wear and tear radiator hosees, belts, and clutches. But even then my dad F-150 went to 200,000 miles before we replaced the belts and have only replaced the clutch once on it and thats only because they were old never broke. For reasons like these we've grown pretty loyal to Ford as a brand, but with gas prices we will be considering a GM SUV next we'll see how they stack up in a year or so. And I'll admit that when the '94 Dodge came out (and the movie Twister) it was definatly my favorite truck untill Ford came out with the Superduties in '98(?) then I switch back, but now I pay more attention to how the trucks perform and last then how they look, but no matter what deep inside I'll always be a Ford guy.

Since everybody's stating their loyalties, I'll state mine in addition to my original post.

I love Nissan mainly because unlike most manufacturers they put out multiple good sports cars and Infiniti is starting to put out some damned nice luxury vehicles.

Some of my favorite cars ever are the 240SX/Silvia-Z Series-and ofcourse the Skyline, all by the same company.

However I would definitely smack a few hoes for a RX7, yumm......

I grew up around muscle cars, my dad and his buddies always used to tinker around with their cars and i just sat back and watch, went to car shows with them. I pretty much grew up a chevy kid but realized sometime in high school how much i love other cars, i dont believe in brand loyalty, i believe in a cars individual specs. Every person has their own preferences and ideas on what they want in a car. I drive an Eclipse right now, but my next daily driver will be an RX7 or a Supra, i haven't decided yet. However i'm still in love with muscle cars. Some people just dont appreciate all cars like others of us.

nissan/ toyota. im quite partial to volvo as i grew up with them.

but since ive been driving, the best experiences ive had are nissan and toyo.

im not saying that those brands are the be all and end all, if an OEM comes out with a good car ill like. domestics however bore me in so many ways bland cars and straight lines.
