turn on headlights to start it????????

I have a 97 firebird that will not start unless the headlights are on first. Any help?

sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere in your ignition switch circuit and it is using the headlight circuit as a ground or a source of power .never heard of this though . Does the chime beep when you have the lights on when the key is in the off position? Are the fuses OK ? Do the assesories come on when you turn the key on? good luck, Rob
