i just bought a 93 dakota 4x4 with auto trans with o/d . when i bought the truck it just had the trans rebuilt immediately before i bought it ( i am the 1st 1 to drive it sense rebuild) .
it seems to have a little trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd.
it seems like it is either slipping between the 2 gears , or possible shifting out of 1st to early . it almost seems like it has to shift into 2nd twice .
other than that it shifts fine and kicks down fine .
any ideas what the problem could be ? i doubt i could take it back to the place that rebuilt it because i am not the original person that took it there ..

Whatever the end result of your situation, put in Amsoil ATF. My 98 3.9 automatic has 500,000 on the original powertrain.

could be high clearance in the front band, Check the kickdown adjustment and make sure its setup right.
