hi all,i'm new here.i have been reading some posts, looks like theres some good wrenches in here,i am working on my moms 92 pa it doesnt get driven much, anyway it quits after you drive it ,could be 2 miles or 10 miles and after awhile you can start it again. l pulled fuel line off at filter and turned on key, had fuel. ,we had pressure at the fuel rail port (didnt put a gage on it yet) think i read 38 to 45 on a post here?fuel pump turns on for a couple seconds when you turn on key .we put it on a tester and got a field test or flash test? and got a code 12.any ideas? Thanks ! I thinks its awsome you guys take the time to help out!!!!

The first code that you will see, will be a code 12. Code 12 is displayed only to show you that you have successfully sent the computer into its diagnostic cycle. The Code 12 will be repeated 3 times. After code 12 has been repeated 3 times, there will be a long pause, (approx 5 seconds) if there are any other codes, then they will be displayed. If there are not any more codes, then the computer will flash the code 12 again.

Remove the ignition control module (under the coil packs) and take it to Auto Zone for testing. Your problem, sounds like the early signs of crank position sensor or ICM failure.

Just to confirm - i was having the exact same problem with my 92PA - it would conk out even when driving 55mph, or at 5mph - very annoying. Tried all kinds of things until i changed the Crank Shaft Sensor - and that was the trick. Before this i had changed coils, camshaft sensor, plugs/wires, tps, maf, etc - wasnt until the Crank Shaft Sensor that the weird turning off by itself issue went away. When i took the old one out it was pretty mushed up. I think its related to heat - thats why it would start after sitting for a few minutes.
