I will be Camaro-less for a little while possibly.

Well I've decided that it is about time to retire my Z28 since it's close to 197,000 miles now, and has a clusterf--- of problems:

-intake oil leak

-exhaust leak at #8 primary(bolt head broke off)

-electrical door locks don't function on the drivers side

-driver's side door panel is separating from the door frame

-rear hatch struts don't like to hold it up during cold weather(have big bump on head)

-low coolant level sensor goes on and off now and then(though it isn't leaking a drop... probably just a bad sensor)

-driver's side fender cracked/split open(guy hit me, I got the money from him, but don't have the time to fix it between school and work 5-6 days a week)

-paint faded on front fascia

-window motors will probably need replaced about 4 months from now

-headliner is falling

-sun visor strappy things are lazy

-shocks are blown, need replaced

-AC needs recharged(been putting it off... since I bought the car, lol)

-it has 196,6XX miles on it

It runs great, it's just that all the little things add up and make it hard to fix it all because I need it for daily transportation. The exhaust leak actually seals itself after about 4min of driving lol!

I am looking into buying a Dodge something-or-other(I'm a Dodge technician so I know a fair amount of what will need done on everything) or Saturn SL1 or something for driving daily, selling the Camaro for ~$1500-1700, and then saving up for another LT1(maybe even LS1 if I can wait longer)... with lower miles, and a M6 tranny.

It'll be hard going to a lower status car for a while, but in the end it will be worth it I think.

Before I advertise in the local paper... anyone want it?:icon16:

I will say that both the 300 and Charger look badass.. especially the front of the Charger and the 300's body looks so great..

Just a regular mid-late 90s beater.

And those SRT8 Chargers are FAST!!:iceslolan

But nothing compares to the Viper I got to ride shotgun in on a test drive...

Yeah, I'm considering buying a third gen and doing an LS1/T56 swap into it since I'll have a different daily driver and won't be dependent on my f-body.

oh never mind, i saw it in your profile, would you take 1,200 for it?

flatlander757

I was thinking about that, but I want something affordable and streetable so I could cruise on the weekends.

Or something that can lift the front wheels off the ground. I want something crazy:grinyes:

Some ideas I'm throwing around:

-H/C LT1
-Cam only LS1

Some of the more involved things I want to do:

-LS1/T56 third gen
-454 in anything
-383 stroker(possibly blown) in a 78-83 malibu or an old S10
-early second gen Camaro(such as this (http://www.racingjunk.com/exec/ca/view/603409/1972-CHEVY-CAMARO.html)

I want something obnoxiously loud, incomprehensibly fast, and it's gotta burn rubber down 50 blocks of Atlantic Avenue.:grinyes:

Or at least fun to drive:tongue:

No way. I'm not going under $1500. The longer anyone waits to buy it, the more I'm fixing up(I'm going to try to fix the exhaust leak this week), so the price may go up a bit.

I'll consider trading it for a decent condition reliable daily driver type car, such as a Dodge Stratus, maybe Neon, Ford Escort, etc.

I know exactly what your saying flatlander. It's just plain fun just driving a car that is obnoxiously loud and fast. When I get out of college and starting to make some money, that's the kind of car I'm going to have. I want to drive something that, when I stomp on it, will make women, old people, and girly men run scared. Something that will give children nightmares when it's just idling. That's my dream car :evillol:

BINGO!

I know that an LS1 powered car would likely be superior to just about everything, but the simplicity of carbuerators and big displacement is just plain cool. The LS1 is amazing, but given it is so expensive and time consuming to get running in a non-LS1 car, a SBC would be close to or just as fast for less money. And since it's not a daily driver MPG won't be an issue.

I'd REALLY like to have something done by February of next year for my Votech school's car show. Something with a big block 427 or a SBC with a roots supercharger sticking out of the cowl:iceslolan

Yeah but for 12K??? You could do better with your money.

ZX11. Reliable, faster than just about everything, funner than shit to drive, no one will mooch rides off of you, you get like 30 MPG WHEN YOU'RE DOING 180. And brand spanking new you're talking 9000-10,000. Insurance is cheap too. Put a nice loud Kyono muffler on it... EVERYONE will get out of your way.

I almost bought a 54 Chevy 210 2 door sedan about 8 months before I bought my Maro. I was hemmin and hawin about it. The body was in great shape, the frame etc was decent... but had the original motor which was crapped out, suspension was shot, interior was completely wasted... needed a bunch of work. Some other guy (local) bought it. It is fucking BAD-ASSED now. If I see him driving it I'll see if I can get a pic and post it. Soooo kicking myself in the ass.And the kicker, only took him about 2 months. (I wish I could wrench like that.)

I love those cars. There is just something about them, they're sweet when they're restored to original, but I think they're one of the best looking hot rods. Not much looks meaner than that car when it lowered.

my uncle had a 57 chevy bel air, 2 door black hard top. He sold it about two months ago. I got to drive it befor!! Awsome.

Why'd he sell it though? I love Bel Airs and usually catch these old guys driving them around like pimps.

lol, he hurt his sholder and he his knee, and he could not drive it as much because it was a stick and the clutch was hard as could be, and he did not have any where to store it, all he had was a car port. So it was just sitting there collecting dust.We took it down to The lack of the Ozarks in MO. To the huge car show down there. Long ride in a hot car with no air.
