Brake Pad question

I'm thinkin about gettin ceramic brake pads for my GP, anybody know what are the best brands out there???? Because I've been thinking about Hawk ceramic pads that run at $70 but today I went to Murray's and some Bosh ceramic pads for $40....any suggestion between these 2.....is there a significant difference between them???

I work at an AC Delco distributor in Flint, MI, that's the "WE". PM me with your zip code and I can get you a total price including S/H. I would lean away fromthe Bosch pad, as almost every Bosch product I've tried are junk. Their spark plugs and oxygen sensors are tow examples.

Hey Rich, how do the AC Delco ceramic pads compare to to the Raybestos PG Plus Professional Grade ceramic pads? Thats what I run on my GTP to include the Raybestos PG Plus rotors. Cost was around $59 for pads. The problem I noted with certain ceramic brands is the stopping power doesn't feel right although there is minimal or no brake dust. I used to have the Performance Friction carbon-metallic which has great stopping power and limited fade but brake dust was a problem.

Hey Bob, Raybestos makes Durastop pads, so I believe they are the same. I bought them (the Durastops) for my car, but the weather hasn't cooperated so I haven't put them on yet. We sell a ton of these pads, especially to the GM dealers, and we get no complaints. I have heard about the stopping power being a trade off between metallics and ceramics, but have yet to judge for myself. My car looks identical to your 97, right down to the chrome factory wheels, so I decided the lower brake dust was more important than stopping on a dime. We'll see how they work out and I'll let you all know. My car currently has Wagner pads on it (the previous owner gave me all the receipts, and they are JUNK).

Yeah Rich, I had heard that Raybestos makes the OEM brake pads, etc. for GM. Thats why I use Raybestos exclusively now. The Raybestos PG ceramics have very good stopping power. The disc rotors are a class act too. I don't have much distance left on the track and dropping down to low speed for the turn around after a quarter mile run otherwise I'd be eating cactus.

Let me know how the Durastops work out. Cost looks good.
