Stopped at a light the other night making a turn. While i was sitting there with the turn signal on i noticed that dash lights were flashing with the turn signal. Further checking it i could make the same thing happen when the rear defogger came on and also with the power window switch. Got home checked the charging with a volt meter at the battery i think it was 12.6 and got no better with reving the engine up. The alt light never came on so i assumed there was nothin wrong with the alt so i crawled underneath and checked the back of the alt direct and boom 14.4v coming out of the alt. So my problem is the volts arent getting to the battery. Anyone have any clues.

Sounds like what happened to me last night, check your positive battery clamp - mine was very loose and jumping around, in fact. Truck was slowly dying as I was coming up my street, dash lights going haywire, head lights flickering, thought my truck was possessed!

Well i fixed the problem. I got some welding lead from work and made me a new ground wire. cleaned up chassis ground to the battery and ran a new ground from the engine to the chassis. I now am getting 14.2v at the battery. Thanks for all your help guys. Paul

Well its back to doing the same thing again. I have over 14 volts coming out of the alternator but its not making it to the battery. Battery only shows 12.8volts

Ok got it fixed this time. It was the small wire coming from the accessory fuse and relay box right behind the battery going to the positive side of the battery. Had a short, i could move it around and it would start working. Changed it out all better now.
