alarm problem.

i have a 325i se.
it has remote central locking which works perfectly, locks the doors and the indicators flash, but no sound is heard. the led just continually flashes.
if i open the door while the alarm is set, the indicators flash with no sound. also the interior sensors will not trigger the alarm.
i think that the alarm unit under the bonnet is switched off but when i switch it on with the key it just starts bleeping at me.
can anyone help me to solve this problem and get my alarm working properly??????
