Has anyone built any of the Tamiya 1/12 Grand prix kits on here?

No not yet

My local shop has the tamiya 1/12 mini cooper
I think i might just purchace it
Ive looked at it and i think its a massive project compared to the 1/24 cars

Every thing i have read about this scale says they are superb although they take a lot of time and patience to complete - each sub assembly is like a model of its own.

I like the idea of the mini so i can paint it an extreme colour and have an excellent display piece.

Nop.
But they don't appear to be difficult to build for people that
are used to Tamiya models.
They are just bigger and have more parts. :D

I have 1/16 Lamborghini QV5000 from Fujimi Enthusiast serie. It's nice car, but Fujimi isn't like Tamiya.
I put it on side because I don't have enough reference photos and in instruction isn't very well explained.

i really wouldnt mind doin a 1/12 kit myself, but i've already got about six models waitin to be completed:( once all those are out of the way, i wouldnt mind comitting to a project like that because it seems like you would have to focus entirely on it to make it come out just right. the mini cooper would be a great subject that im definitely lookin into within the next six months.

i've done a Monogram 1/12 1957 Chevy Bel Air. its huge! detail is ok. came with wires for the distributer cap and some hose to the radiator and stuff. despite the size, the amount of detail was way less than any of my 1/24 tamiya models

I've built a few and have a 1/12 '69 Camaro I'm currently starting. The detailing opprotunities are boundless but it better be right since it's so much easier to spot crappy model building skills in this scale. This Camaro is going to be my most extensive scratchbuilding job to date and I am already casting steering knuckles, a Corvette IRS, and a set of wheel centers for it. I have yet to really do anything with the 1/12 Fujimi R32 GT-R I purchased recently.

I have been itching to get my hands on one of Tamiya's 1/12 model kits. But they don;t seem to carry them here. To get the 1/12 mini delivered to Singapore from HLJ will cost me nearly S$100. The large F1 cars will cost more than S$250.

Hobby Search has the instructions of these kits online. Looks really interesting.

:D

I have the 1/8 scale monogram Camaro, I plan to build it with fins reminiscent of the 57 chevy. At least it will be different!;)
