The NSX looks great but I would expect more parts.

Looks OK, but I wish Tamiya would stop using the die cast chassis, the detail at the suspension is disgraceful! I think I would have to adapt the chassis from one of the older NSX's when I get mine. I Should not have to do this with a new kit at this price!:nono: Also, I would expect an engine and a challenging build for the amount of money they charge for these new kits, not high price, bare minimum!!

Sorry about the rant, but I'm sure there are others here who share my thoughts?

exhaust smoke, you're preaching to the choir here, if you go back through the threads of Tamiya's releases in the last year, you'll see the same thing you're saying said over-and-over again.

I agree with everyone else with the want for more detail than a die-cast chassis, especially since I can't imagine that the chassis for the '05 NSX varies much from the older NSX models. I noticed the instructions mention locations of PE parts; I'm going to assume that in Tamiya's current (& frustrating) trend that these are sold separately? :shakehead

Look like a Fujimi kit.

Noted! I'm gonna stop ranting about this! I suppose, if Tamiya continue down this route, I'll probably just stop buying them:frown:

Yes, the PE is separate. I wish they would at least release them at the same time, so I won't have to wait until March for the whole package to be shipped from HLJ.

complaisancy.
too many nutriders who STILL bang on about tamiya superiority and how everyone else, especially revell and fujimi, are bad compared to tamiya and that they will never buy a kit from them.

"Complacency."

I don't know of many people that buy only Tamiya kits? Just like in every other thread about how much Tamiya's metal chassis suck, of which there are about 100,000, the concensus seems to be that it's the car, not the company, that decides whether the kits comes off the shelf.

To second what Willimo said, I've brought a lot more Hasegawa kits of late then Tamiya kits, because the subjects I want are produced by Hasegawa.
I shop based on subject, not kit manufacturer.

I think that the new Revell AG kits are of the same quality as Tamiya kits, only the decals suck.

i meant "complaisancy".
this is purely personal as i know people who are major brand supporters.
they only buy what is considered the best (who also like to argue over who is the best) and thus only buy tamiya because of their reputation, ignoring the actual products.
these people are too willing to mindlessly support tamiya by purchasing anything they produce over all other kit makers.
these are the complaisant people.

then again, it is also true that tamiya are themselves complacent (not the same) and are bargaining on those people continuing to chose their kits.

So you're saying people are eager to please, and so they stick with Tamiya?

hmm... when you put it like that, it doesn't sound as right as it did in my head anymore....
is there a term/word that would better describe the blind support of the brand?

willimo

Blind brand loyalty? I don't think there's a word for it, even in our almost masochistic consumption-driven society.

Such case is probably rare. I've been making models for more than 30 years, and never met anyone like that, except for some people saying such things as a "joke."

then again, it is also true that tamiya are themselves complacent (not the same) and are bargaining on those people continuing to chose their kits.
I'd like to hear some facts to back it up.

well... i guess that's just conjecture on my part but i really do believe that the kit manufacturers know of the things that are said on these type of forums and from what i gather, there aren't a great many people who like the metal chassis or the ever decreasing parts (all in one chassis).
if they aren't expecting people to still buy what they produce, would they keep on making the kits in this manner?
I'm aware of some kind of business strategy going on (spending production costs on one "big" car in full detail and then doing what they can with other kits but if it makes the other kits not half as good as people would like, is it a good way to do things?
