Hi, I have a Camry 93 (4 cyclinder) that fail the test-only smog (pretest) check because the mixture are too lean. My question is will the aftermarket cat help reducing the bad emission from unburn fuel and hopefully pass the test-only test. Have anyone done this before? Passing with an aftermarket cat. In addition, will it also help to reduce emission buy replacing the Dealer's Oxygen Sensor, because I'm using Bosch. Thanks
PS: The engine won't react to the adjustment of the smog tech guy. I didn't know what he did, but I told me to give him extra 100 if he can fix my car on the spot and pass. But he fail and told me that my car didn't react to the adjustment he made. I have no idea.
Thank you

caguy714,

Don't buy a new cat yet. My 89' Camary has over 200,000 miles on it and it still has it's origional converter. Next time your car need to be smog checked make sure the converter is HOT!!! I usually take a morning drive for about 1/2 hour freeway driving before getting mine tested. I'll bet you car just needs a major tune-up and or a new PCV valve.
