I just bought a cooling fan from a 95 3.0 liter Taurus to put in another vehicle. It has three wires to the motor. Black, yellow stripe and red stripe.
Does anyone know which wires hook up to ground and hot. I am assuming it is a two speed, since there is three wires. I hooked it up to a battery charger and it seemed to run in two speeds if I hooked the black wire up and alternated the two striped wires. Would this be correct??

autozone.com has wiring diagrams available for many cars. I would check the wiring diagram to be sure.

Did you buy an OEM cooling fan for a 1995 Taurus, or a universal fan? The service manual for a 1993 Taurus agrees with the wiring diagram on Autozone.com, the three wire colors show up as Brown/orange, dark blue, and black. Autozone doesn't show it, but my manual for the 1993 shows that brown/orange is for the low speed, dark blue is for high speed, and black is ground.
