The Ford GT began as a concept car designed in anticipation of Ford's centennial year and as part of its drive to showcase and revive its "heritage" names such as Mustang and Thunderbird. Why am I telling you this?

One man located in Kansas City (Mission Hills/Prairie Village) waited 2 years for this $200,000 car.

He had this car only two days and had only put 9 miles on it.

He decided to try out how fast it would go- and decided to punch the gas pedal. When he did… he lost traction on the rear wheel and lost control on a bridge next to golf hole #17 at a major country club (Mission Hills Country Club) which crosses a small creek.

He nailed a steel and concrete pole. (Warning the following pictures are graphic in nature, and might cause you to involuntarily vocalize such reactions as, “oh shit”, “holy fuck”, and “oh-my-god”).

Meh, it'll buff right out. Saw this a few days ago on a local board. The thing is, I'm really not all that upset about it. The ones that piss me off are the fuck tards that crash the Enzos. I mean, when you crash an Enzo, its gone for good. Ferrari only made 399. At least Ford will make a replacement for this. And hell, its just a Ford. JK. Anyways, my gf said hes a fucking idiot.

This man needs to be kicked in the testicles by a mule so he cannot reproduce and spread his stupidity to the future generation.

Even then, only do it if you can handle it. :disappoin

:crying:

this thread makes me emo. thats my fav car of all time

but in all seriousness... if the fucktard isnt going to take care of it, than give it to me. and actually, ford may not make a replacement for it. the ford gt was meant to be a limited edition thing from its very inception, and with the new "way forward" they are closing the plant that makes it. but its not like the car is split in half, he can get it fixed.

Sad thing is that that car is still worth more than most peoples cars. I bet it gets fixed. Its alot of damage but not enough to total such a costly car.

9mi? dont they have some sort of required break in period before you go full throttle or drive to a cetian speed?

I read somewhere, maybe on this forum or another, don't remember where...

But, this guy was going to a local Ford dealership to buy a Ford GT and when he got to talking to a sales rep. about a particular GT he was looking at the Sales rep. thought it'd be cool to boast that he'd personally taken that car up to 65mph in 1st gear. He was proud of it, trying to use it as a sales pitch ya know... which a Ford GT doesn't need a sales pitch, if you're buying the car you probably already know it's fast.

Anywho, the dude looking to buy said something along the lines of "I'm glad you guys know about proper break-in periods..." and left. I think he went elsewhere and bought his GT.

I dunno, but makes you think about those few miles you see on the cars at the dealerships. What did the lot porters do in those.. 2 miles or whatever with your uber expensive car you just bought.

yeah a lot of those dealers are complete retards that know nothing about cars. when my mom was shopping for a car, a dealer at ford trying to sell a focus tried to make japanese engines sound like some mythical beast that ford had just recently discovered. he was a complete moron an made it quite obvious that he knew nothing about cars.

who takes a brand new car to 65 in first gear... what a moron, although i remember one magazine saying that they got 0-60 in a GT in 3.3sec, usually its like 3.7 or 3.8. maybe that has something to do with when the tester shifts...

ohh yay were talking about dumb sales reps well i went to look at another 79 trans am at a dealership and when i asked the guy if i could look under the hood he couldnt figure out how to open it so i showed him then he was telling me it had 12k original miles so i was like no way and asked to see the odometer...after he got a screw driver out to open the door i was like yea..nevermind and drove off in bandit haha...im glade i got to get that out.

Were asking 25k for a 79 trans am with almost no interior cracked glass and a custom screw driver opener door...what is the world of sales comming to.

When I took a look at a GT this past summer the guy told me it had 500 HP, I told him I could have sworn it was 550....he insisted it was only 500. I guess dealers always know best.

When the GT first came out, in magazines it said it only had 500 horses, and then nowadays its 550. Thats the only thing I know about that.

the GT is rated at 550hp... but it is under rated and is closer to 600 (atleast the one car&driver had or whatever the mag was)

BlackGT2000

Yeah I remember that also but this was just a few months back when they were definately rated to 550 (at least according to the Ford brochures in the dealership)

Well, they've got to leave some room for improvement.

Just incase they run the car for a few more years, they can 'up' the power to help stur interests in the car. By saying they upped the power to 575hp or something like that, when, the car had 575 or whatever to begin with.

I mean, they can do some minor tweaking with ECU... intake manifold runners.. something small, to make people go.. "oooo... they made it faster!" when, all they did was slap more horsepower on paper.

Just like the new C6 Z06, we all know it makes 505hp, and we've all seen the dyno sheets of what a few minor tweaks can do to them. Basically all Chevrolet has to do is tweak it just a tad to get more power out of it.

Or, I could have the whole industry wrong.

lol....sounds like what every car maufactor does..dont they do that with every car basiclly....but if u get a pure track car from the dealership, then there is no problem....

Judging by the pictures I think he took the term entirely too literally.

The damage to the car looks repairable, though extremely costly. I doubt it will be considered totalled. Dude is a tard though.

It doesn't look destroyed. Engine is in the back anyways, seems like a lot of plastic broke on the nose, maybe some frame damage. I am 100% sure that he could have started it back up and drove to the nearest garage (if not deplyoed air bags).

i remember reading this story too...i think it was a letter that someone had mailed to car and driver...anywho, that's really funny.

if had the money to buy a supercar, i would definitely take the time to be in some race driving classes first, so i could really learn how to control a mid engined, 550hp beast
