I implore you geniuses to step in and help me out. I get in there and mix it up and would sure appreciate some guidance.

The 2.2L 96 wants to start and will actually catch a few time but will not stay running. I get code 8 and 9 from the ECU. I replaced the distributor but that is not it. There is gas to the injectors, I have cleaned them and they seem to be spraying. There is spark at the plugs. That just does not seem to leave a lot of things left does it? The code that is referenced does not really point to fuel. I am just about tapped out on ideas. Come on you guys, how about some ideas!

after replacing the distributor....did you check to see if your spark plugs are fouled up? it may have been flooded.

It could be your iac valve. If it is, then you should be able to start it by giving it gas. My wife's jeep was acting similar and that was the problem. Also could have a clogged fuel filter, just not getting enough gas to the injectors to keep running.

ok, if no checkengine light is on, i'm betting its the crank sensor. if your computer dosne/t see that sensor it won't fire at all. it i located behind the the crank pulley. if the crank sensor is bad it won't set a check engine light, but it will through a code.
