STi spanked by Z06

Here is my third race, yet another horrible horrible loss. But this time at least I knew that I was going to lose ahead of time. I just wanted to see how fast this beast of a Corvette really was. And it was very very fast. I'm just driving home around 9:30 minding my own business, when the Corvette pulls up next to me. Red with a Z06 badge on the side. Not only that, the exhaust is very loud, and with a rumble I have never heard before or since. I'm guessing this rumble was from cams, the vette was obviously modified, but I don't know the extent. He points forward and I nod. I downshift and watch to see when he will go. He jerks forward and stops, but I thought he was going, so I floor it. Within a second he is 3 car lengths ahead. He lines up next to me again, and I floor it. Same result. Within a second he has 3 car lengths. We are coming up to a red light, so I'm thinking we can go from a dig once. I know I'll still lose, but at least I could put in a good showing with the AWD launch. Unfortunately, a cop has someone pulled over just to the left side of the intersection. So when the light turns green we roll through slowly. On the other side we go one more time with the same embarassing result. We give each other the thumbs up, with me very impressed with their ride. The two guys in the vette are grinning ear to ear, obviouslly very happy with their cams and whatever else. I would be happy with that car too.

Good death, nothing wrong with it. Was it a C5 or a C6? I wouldn't mind a C5 Z06 at all, but there is just something about the C6s I just cant like. I really don't know what, its like, I don't trust it.

This was before the new Z06 came out. It was the older Z06, probably a 2002 or so model. 400 HP, same as the new C6, but this one was obviously modified.

Me either. Whats to like about a car that beats Porsches on their own home . IE, Nurnburgring. (I guess the Porsche GT was the only one that could put up a better time. No price difference there though, :P )

I think people have a tough time accepting that the Vette since the C5, and even more noticably since the C6. *Especially with the Z06 models.*

I mean, how can you complain about a car that does 0-60 in 3.4 seconds in a Vette Viper comparison? WOW. (Though oddly enough I have seen it as slow as 4 second flat, but on average hitting 3.8 or under.) I just think it needs some respect dangit.

You earn respect by convincing people your worth it, not by having some 'Vette fan boy bitch about how awsome a performer it is. I just don't like it, its me, my opinion. Its the same thing between me and a Koenigsegg. I'd rather have a CCR or the new CCX over a Veyron. I'd rather have a Ferrari over a Lambo or Pagani. I'd rather have a Porsche GT3 over a C6 Z06. I'd rather have a C5 Z06 over an '04 Mustang Cobra. I'd rather have a Trans Am over a 'Maro. Its a fucking opinion. Anyways, [/hijack]. Good death RJG, now mod out that STi, and go get in that fight again!

Nothing wrong with loosing to a Z06 period. They are considerably faster than a STi when they are stock, modified its just a slaughter.

Good loss. I lost to a Z06 rather soundly before my car had a cam. I'd like to get another run against a stock one. If he had a cam he must've been playing with you, cause if your car is stock, running one from a roll would yield more then a 4 car lead with a Z06. Those cars are deadly from a roll.
