short in turn signal/winshield wiper switch?

I have a 96 Conti, and the wiper portion of the turn signal/dimmer/wswa seems to have a short in it. Sometimes the washer fluid pump won't work, and I can hear several "clicks" in the end of the switch when I turn on the delay wiper. I don't know if I have the "auto dimmer" or not. Is there anyway to tell? I have the shift column rather than the floor. Also, how can one tell if the car is the Spinmaker Edition or the Anniversary Edition? I've noticed that on some parts sites.
Thanks in advance

I also am working on a 95, that the wipers would only work, when the turnsignal was on. Now the only way to run the wipers is to use the spray position, which makes for long drives in the rain. Can the switch just be sprayed like crazy with contact cleaner, or WD40 or something like that? Or is it time to be replaced? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!! THANKS

Well, it required a turnsignal switch replacement. Fortunately, I was able to get a brand new, OEM unit on Ebay for about half the cost of dealer. Pretty darn easy to replace, and it fixed the problems!!:grinyes:
