Bed Alignment

Last month, I purchased a 2006 Chevy Z71 Ext Cab with the 5.3L. It is a great truck so far. I am impressed with the ride over my previous truck. And, I like the smoothness of the drivetrain. Much more driveable.
Over the past few weeks while looking the truck over, I have noticed what appears to be a significant defect (possibly). I am not exactly sure what to do about it or if anything can be done.
Essentially, the fender on the left side of the bed is misaligned with the front of the cab. The fender on the right side is in perfect alignment with the cab. And, it appears that the bed is square against the back of the cab. However, the left exterior side of the bed (fender area) is misaligned inward (pushed in) about 1/2 to almost 3/4 of an inch compared to the cab. It does look strange. I have crawled up underneath the truck and can see no evidence of bodywork. Again, this is a new truck. I am assuming that the bed / fender was assembled incorrectly.
Basicly, I am just asking if any of you have ever seen this before and if you have any ideas of how I might handle it with the dealer. They are a small dealership and treated me well; due to their size I am not sure how far they can go to rectify this.
Any help is appreciated.

Congrats on your new truck :)
Had similar prob on a previous Sonoma - right side was even - left side out a good half inch - it did look a little funny and asked the dealer - they said it was the way the box was put on at the factory. However - they did nothing about it. (Looking back I think they chose not to.) Not sure if there are slotted holes to realign the box but I would rather have it equal on each side rather than square to the cab.
Couldn't hurt to ask the dealer - good luck :)
