98 Intrigue S/C possibly?

Okay, so my mom has a 98 Intrigue and the typical old intake and upper plenum is leaking. I have seen more then enough of these things go, and with the way it looks right now the upper plenum needs replaced. So I thought, with how much its going to cost, maybe see about trying to find a supercharger/manifold (with injectors and all) off one of the 3.8 supercharged cars. I dont know if any of you know if it will be a swap, with minimal changes or not. Like the stock ecu handling the injectors and boost, fuel line hook ups, maybe extra sensors, what kind of task is at hand. Whatever the task, I can handle it but I dont know the exact lengths I have to go to be done.
I will only be doing this if I can get everything cheaper or around the same price as buying everything new to put it back stock, which will include a new upper plenum. If I go the supercharger route, Im going to see if I can get everything needed for the junkyard (new gaskets, injector o-rings, things that shouldnt be carried over wont be of course). If I should post this in the Chevy or Pontiac forum please let me know, because I need information very soon. The job needs done ASAP, because I noticed a pool of oil and coolant building up and oil is pooled down on the frame. Its just a matter of time before it completely gives and floods the cylinders.

I saw a guy on ebay selling a 98 or 99 intrigue with the 3800 s/c from a grand prix. A swap can be made of engines, but I'm not sure about individual parts, as the engines are hardly the same. The s/c has much more heavy duty components.

im just trying to get a breakdown. if i hear something to compression ratio is lower, then thats it i wont be able to do it. the bottom end seems perfectly fine. im a tuner, so i brought this up and had it as a possibilty. im not touching the bottom end, because its not my car. i dont know the ins and outs of these, so i mean maybe the s/c had forged pistons while these have cast, which i dont care. i can tune it to keep that from being and issue, and its not like its being boosted like crazy.
but if i hear something that pretty much means digging into something else, im not doing it. if it were my car, id do it in a heart beat.

that info is not just Bonneville specific, it applies to your Intrigue as well, and id advise you to either join there, or ClubGp to get involved in a more active forum, your car has the 3.8 so most all of the knowledge on those two forums applies to it.
there is a turbo kit available for the 3.8, it runs about 3 grand as i recall.
and as long as your putting a new upper intake manifold on there, go ahead and change out the gaskets on the lower intake manifold, many people believe these are what causes the problems to begin with.

thanks for the reply, but turbo is out of the question.
i was only planning on taking the blower/manifold and the extras off a supercharged 3.8 and sticking them onto this one. from everything im finding now, i think im just going to stick stock. i was already going to replace upper and lower gaskets, with valve cover gaskets, injector o-rings, and the little gasket on the driver side. i cant remember what its called, its on the block and had been known to leak too.
im also going to put new wires on it and plugs because itll be easy at the time. it needs new upper torque mounts, so i guess with all the other items i feel need replaced, i dont think the supercharger is going on. id love to do it, but i think its going to wait a bit longer. i just need to get it fixed right away, and i dont think she is going to want to pay for premium gas.
that reminds me i need to start a new topic.........

The major difference going to an Eaton M90 blower versus the stock setup will be the cylinder heads. The L67 heads will be needed. The fuel injectors are in the cylinder heads not lower intake manifold like the normally aspirated SII 3800. But you can get the heads through guys like Ed Morad for $500 or less.

yeah that just shuts my plans down there. i would love to tear into this thing, but like i said its not mine. maybe down the road ill be pulling it apart and doing what i want with it, and she probably knows it will happen because its my nature.

oh my god
you just reminded me of the guy on cardomain, who has a "turbo" with an intercooler. yeah its a fireplace blower (electric supercharger) with pvc pipe and a worthless only for looks intercooler.
