Changing 92 Metro Clutch

HI my fiances clutch went out today. I am just wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to pull the tranny. Her father did it before and said he had to pull the engine/tranny to get the tranny out. Is there some sort of trick to this to make it easier or are we in for a very long day?

you can pull just the tranny out, you have to do most of it from underneath. drain tranny oil, remove shifter lever and shifter brace. remove the 1 bolt that holds ball joint to wheel hub and pull down on control arm, you can then pop axles out of the tranny. remove top to engine to tranny bolts, remove starter bolts (after unhooking battery) remove engine to tranny bolt by exhaust. unscrew clutch adjuster nut and pull clutch cable out of holder. slide boot up on speedo cable and remove clip then pull speedo gear out of tranny, unplug backuplight wire and unbolt ground wire. from underneath you now need to remove the 2 small 10mm bolts that hold dust cover on. you now need a floor jack to support engine, put a piece of wood between it and rar of pan (close to tranny). unbolt the last engine to tranny nut below starter. now undo the 2 nuts holding tranny mount to firewall bracket, engine may pivot a little when you do this so be careful. now unbolt the 3 bolts holding rear tranny mount to tranny, make sure you have jack in place, after everything is undone you can slowly lower jack and tranny should tip down in back and you can pull it off engine and slide it out

Thanks that is exactly what I was looking for! I have another question though, should the car be on jackstands, ramps?

well you want to get it high enough up in the air you can be under it working on it and high enough to slide tranny out

Not on ramps - you will have to remove both tires and axle shafts so use jack stands. I just put a cluth in my 93 geo a month ago - its a pretty strait forward proceedure and everything is easy to get to.
