Referrals in profile?

I noticed that there is 1 referral in my profile. What does this mean and how did it get there? I looked around at other members public profiles and most people don't have any.

It used to be that when you gave someone good advice, people could give you referals. Now I think it's taken over the meaning of refering people to the site.

I think its just part of the old system that got carried over without any way to use it anymore. Like spoon said you used to be able to "rate" people.

yea, it means that some put your name in the referal field when they signed up for the site cause you told them about it.
