MPG...what happened??

I have a 92 Metro 3 cyl, i have always gotten 45-48 mpg without the A/C. Now, i'm getting 33 mpg....still runs good, doesn't seem to miss or anything. I did try to idle it up as it was dying at stops with the a/c on.Any ideas?

Well that depends. When did you notice the MPG loss? Usually by the winter, gas companies add MTBE to the fuel to keep it from freezing. Adding alcohol will kill your MPG. Also, cold air will cause your engine to run more rich, because of the air intake temp sensor.

I'm in Texas and the mpg went down last summer.
