I just bought a 2001 Mustang GT coupe 5 speed, and on my dash there are three buttons one is for fog lamps theother is for defrost the other is a button that says trac off, now the salesman said that it was similar to posi traction and that I could turn it on and off, is this true if not what does this button do? Also I got it for 10500 and it has 49k miles I thought it was a good deal what do you guys think did I get hosed ir was it a good deal?

traction control, when the tires spin it will kill power to the wheels and studder to try to control the car more. there is a relay for sale somewhere to automatically turn it off and you have to press it to turn it on. i would prefer it that way; luckily my 99 doesnt have it

Well by pushing the button on my dash it turns it off....so I guess that I dont want to have that option turned on for racing then.

Once you learn to controll it it will make no difference if it is on or not. Hell half the time im at some road course its on and has yet to kick in. About the only time mine kicks in is in wet weather.

the salesman is a dumbass. the trac control button has nothing to do with the t-loc that comes stock, all it does it retard the timing and apply the ABS breaks to try to keep the wheels spinning
