Coolant

What kind of radiator flush do you guys recommend? (95 Lumina) (CAR)

also...
Is there some kind of coolant sensor on the overflow jug?

My "LOW COOLANT" light stays on and the temp gague fluctuates from normal(most of the time) to HOT then back top normal..

Any ideas if im on the right track?:banghead:

May be air trapped in it. That'll make the level vary wildly, and produce odd temp readings. Warm it up, carefully open the radiator and bleeder screw(s) and fill. Let it run for 10 minutes, crack a bleeder and make sure no air comes out. Repeat until nothing but coolant flows from the bleeder when you open it.

I think you helped me out with this not to long ago.
I have done all of this(after replacing a broken bleeder).
It is better but i still have the low coolant light and the gauge that moves randomely.. My local parts store said that there was a sensor in the overflow jug that might fix it..
Just thought i would run it by you guys.

If you have the 3.1, then the low coolant sensor is not in the overflow bottle, it's mounted to the radiator, on the pasenger side up top. I had the same problem and replaced my coolant level sensor recently when I replaced my radiator, thermostat, hoses, and waterpump. That fixed the problem.

I took the overflow jug off this weekend only to find that it was not there.
I will look on the radiator.

The coolant sensor is a 1" squarish little box about a 1/3 of the way down the passenger side radiator tank (GM part#10096163). While you have the cooling system open, you might as well change the t-stat too, as it is most likely the cause of the fluctuating temps. If your car has the orange/pink Dexcool coolant, do a thorough flush and convert it back to the green. Dexcool sludges up and is the cause of your issues.

I have flushed out the radiator and put a new bleeder that was broke (i guess from the factory). but the coolant light still burns.
Its good to know where it really is.i looked all under the hood ,on the block,
all with no results.
