96 xj tie rod install

Ok im about to try and fix a shimmy issue by replacing the tie rod ends. does anybody know of a link that has detalied instructoins on how to do this? i know what tools i will need, i just want to make sure i will be on the right path when i start to tear it down. the chiltons dont offer much help:uhoh:

Likely because there's not much too it. Remove any cotter pins, and remove the nuts. Then, using the fork and a big hammer, split the joint apart. You may wish to leave the nuts on a few turns to keep the tie rod end from flying around once it separates.

Once off, measure the length of it from the center of the studs. You can roughly adjust the new tie rod to the same length before installing. This should be good enough to get you to an alignment shop.
