Revell Replacement Parts without the Kit?

I was just thinking, as I was browsing the Revell of America website: can I order just the parts I want from Revell if I wanna do a kitsmash? I mean, I would even mind paying for the parts, but if I want to make a 300C SRT-8 Touring (300C from the grille to the front doors, Magnum SRT-8 from the doors back), can I just order the body, grille, and such from Revell, instead of buying the whole kit?

Conversely, if I buy the kit (in order to build the regular 300C), would that allow me to get the spare parts?

You can, but it amounts to fraud and will have a negative impact on the general modeling community in the long term.
The Revell replacement parts system is there for if you have broken or missing parts in a kit, if your conscience allows you to use the system to get free parts, so be it, just don't complain when Revell doesn't release many new kits.

Revell replacement parts are free? I thought you have to pay for them.

You could get both of the kits at a HobbyLobby 1/2 off sale for around $15 and have ALL the parts for both kits. Or spend $5 for shipping from revell and only have 10 parts maximum per year.

Spend the $15 and don't make Revell feel they are being used and abused by thier replacement program. I'd hate to see them discontinue the service because they are being abused.

I support the view of CADguy.

I bought a Revell kit on ebay and recieved it in the original wrap plastic, but still the body was missing, but the eBay seller got a new body from Revell and sent it to me free of charge. That's good service, so please don't mess with it.

Yeah, I didn't know it was a free service. Perhaps I could e-mail Revell and ask if I can BUY (legally) parts from them.

They are the best when it comes to parts replacement. I called them once because of a broken windshield and chrome bumper severely scratched. The only question from the person I spoke with was about my address and the kit number. That easy. No shipping either. This was about four years ago. Don't know about now. I wouldn't abuse them though. They are providing a type of service we don't see too often now days. I'd hate for that to dissapear because of abuse and people wanting to take advantage of them. If I could have repaired the parts I would have but it was not possible.

Thanks

Right. I am not, repeat, NOT, going to use the replacement parts service to build the models. I'll buy kits and also call Revell to see if I may purchase parts from them, note the use of the word PURCHASE.

If not, then I'll buckle down and buy the kits, but that will have to be after I get a summer job.

When I orderd reaplacement parts from their site, I had to pay for them. If I have to pay for parts they fouled up on, I shouldn't have to pay. Also, if I am having to pay for parts, I should be allowed to get as many parts from as many kits as I want. Revell must have all these spares shouldn't they? I really don't know how their replacement parts deal works. But we should be able to get parts at our disgression.

You're right Frank, you can get parts at your discretion, they come in kit form and you get them from your LHS....

revell's model part replacement system is good for when you break the part, but i was a little upset when revell wanted me to pay for shipping on the hood of a mustang cobra that was broken from the sealed box.
