Does anyone know this seller:
hobby.city (http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=hobby.city&iid=6037622621&frm=284)

He got a lot of kits at decent prices (when including shipping cost), but for some reason he offers most of them at at $0,99 and seems to get paid by an overpriced shipping cost.

This is fair enough, but I've read some warnings against sellers who offer kits for $0,99 (Hong Kong based sellers), and since this seller seems to be in UK, I would like to know if anyone have experience with this seller before I place an order.

The only reason I could find on his site for selling the kits at $0,99 is the satifaction warranty he offers:

Satisfaction Guaranteed. If for any reason you are unsatisfied with your purchase, we will gladly refund your full purchase price, less shipping costs. ;-)

So has anoyne bought anything from this guy? And if so did you recieve the goods?

The "satisfaction warranty" is a trick, but also by selling kits in that way he nearly doesn't pay commissions to eBay.

I haven't ordered anything from him, but probably I wouldn't do it. I think that he's being too clever by half.

Got a kit from him before. no problems at all, nothing damaged, and the kit contents are all there and it is still in shrink wrap.

Some of the Hong Kong sellers are getting wise and registering as UK and US sellers, that's all well until you but from one and find the package takes 4 weeks to arrive and comes with a HK stamp from a 'US' seller.

I got burned by an HK seller: After about a month I got wondering where my R/C car was and I checked and he had dozens of negative emails over that past two weeks. I should have known better than to use anything but PayPal, which I will never do again.

I've used one Hong Kong trader (again for R/C), and all I can say is CHECK THE FEEDBACK! I made sure there were a lot of happy customers with the fella I used, and I must say his service was outstanding.

HongKong_Cowboy in case you were wondering.

I would report him to ebay. What he is doing is against ebays rules. Ducking there fees is a huge no no. Also you might want to look into what paypal will refund. I think they only refund the item not the shippin if a problem comes up.

Well, that's not always true, because the seller I got ripped off by had tons of good feedback, and did for about a month and a half after as well. He even responded to my inquiry a while after, and then two weeks later was when I noticed all the good feedback.

I checked Ebay's fraud protection, and they only covered about 50% of the item's value, and nothing of the shipping. At that point it wasn't worth whatever time it took to go through the process for $25.

The first item I ever bought on Ebay was actually from Hong Kong and was a good seller.

"Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience."

Love that quote man. So true.

I've never shopped through e-Bay but you know what they say about deals that sound too good to be true.

Unless i understood you wrong, he makes most of his earnings through shipping charges that arent refundable if the customer isnt satisfied; and, according to SteveK, e-Bay only protects 50% of the product's value but not the shipping cost. So e-Bay gives you .50 cents back:sly: sounds a little:screwy:

From what my cousin, an e-Bay shopper, has told me, "it's better to stick with sellers within the country."

Regardless of what their feedback says, if this person can't be honest enough to reveal his/her true location, then that shows a lot about who you're dealing with. Honestly I'd rather surf the web for dealers within my city, state, or even country, even if it means i pay an extra 1,2, or 5 dollars more. I personaly wont even shop with HLJ, even after i've read all the positive comments members from this website post about that shop. I feel more comfortable dealing with stores in my country because i know i have a better chance of getting my money back than with foreign stores. But that's just my opinion. My best wishes to you if you do decide to go forward with offering your business to shops overseas.
