Hi everybody,
Just want thank all participants on this forum.
I just got an 94 olds 98 Regency with 100k miles on it. It seemed to be running fine. Lately, I have noticed that the car takes much longer picking up on acceleration. The needle that display the status in gas tank is so inaccurate in telling me fow much gas I have in the tank. Fews wks ago, while driving, I suddenly could not turn neither right or left. I manage to pull it into a parking lot after about 2 miles driving straight. I realized later that the coolant fluid was linking perfusely and that the serpentine belt disloged. A mechanic told me that it was the waterpump that broke due to extreme weather. Any opinion would be very welcomed as well as opinions in regard to the car's acceleration and the gas tank display.
Thank you very much.

The poor acceleration and tank fluctuation could be linked. It's possible that you have a weak pump and bad float. They are unrelated parts per se. however they are located in the same place. Try to have your injection system pressure tested to see if your pump is running weak. If so, it would be a good idea to replace the whole unint inside the tank. That should cure both problems at once. As for the water pump, there are usually 2 was to identify a bad pump, but not always foolproof. First is to look for wetness on the ground or below the pump. The weep hole might be dripping causing the belt to slip off. Second is to physically try to turn the pulley with the belt off. If the pulley doesn't want to turn, the bearings could be seized causing the same problem. Did your temp gauge spike after the belt was reinstalled?
