I've seen 2 different valve covers for the 4g63t. One says 16valveDOHC 2000 and the other says Mitsubishi DOHC 2000. Are they year specific, like the 1gs came with one and the 2gs came with another one?

I believe so. I think that the 2g's are red stock while the 1g's are silver with red lettering.

That makes sence, although 90% of the 2gs I've seen the valve covers are unfinished like mine was. I was just wondering because my valve cover is the 16 valve DOHC one and theres a 1g 7bolt on a stand in school with the MSTUBISHI one but I can across a website compairing the engine bays the the valve covers were switched around so I wasnt sure.

I believe the 7-bolts were unfinished and the 6-bolts were red. Either that or it was 1gs are red and 2gs are unfinished.

I think the ones that say Mitsubishi on them came off of galant vr4's. 1g's had silver with red letters, and 2g's got the poopy unpainted one lol.

Yea.. I just ordered me a stock one off e bay(silver with red lettering like i have now but no cracks!).It says "16 valve DOHC 2000" like most. I think the Mitsu logo valve cover was on galants(vr4's) possibly and 89/90 eclipse's. Anyways... going to paint it all red when I get it in the mail, was thinking of doing the letters another color but its hard to find Hi Temp Paint in a regular brush on style bottle/container.

There are several different valve covers for our cars. The regular 16 valve one (yes 2g's came with these) http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/8625/repic8tz.jpg
There are the one's that just say mitsubishi across the top like this: http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/8393/pic2ia.jpg
Then there are the one's that have the mitsubishi across the top WITH the diamond star (which I'm told are the true "JDM" valve covers??? But I think someone also said that the true jdm vc comes red-the valve cover, not the lettering-which I've had one of those before as well) like this: http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/1795/10034396mv.jpg
Then you can also use the shaved stock valve covers (that are straight off the hyundai's-but they come stock in black) like this: http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/66/resun7se.jpg
With this valve cover you have to use the bolts that come with it-which are basically like arp head studs, but instead valve cover studs. We have a few of these on our cars.
So...there's quite a variety of valve covers you can use.
