Potential FREE VATS Bypass?

I was looking at one of my starting system wiring diagrams and I think I found an easy VATS bypass that wouldnt require a trip to Radio Shack or ecklerscamaro...
If I am reading this wiring diagram correctly, then it looks like you could just skip the resistance reading all together and just go to the STARTER ENABLE RELAY... take the dark green(tan/white in some cars) wire and the yellow wire and splice in a connection between them...and thats it, vats is out of the equation...(my diagram only applies to 3rd gens, may be the same in 4th but I dont know)
Does anyone else see what Im talking about? Could this work? Have I stumbled onto something here? :thinkerg:

I think you still need a resistance value in the splice, the system functions based on resistance of the eintire circuit there, no?
On a lighter note, feeling a little daring with the more electircal on this car? :p

I highly doubt anything without a cheap resistor will work.

Guys, guys...relax  Ive had the ecklers bypass for a while now, but after looking at the diagram for a while, I think I relized how the system works and I just want to test this theory...If it works, then I think it would be a great time/money saver... well not for me, that boat already sailed, but it could be useful for others :)
The reason I think this will work is because on the diagram I have, it looks like crossing the wires at this spot will cut the reader, resister, and VATS out of the equation all together :cwm27:
Wishful thinking or a reality? I will find out this afternoon.

And yes wright...I am feeling a little more daring :grinyes:
I just found a cut wire the other day deep in one of my harnesses, one that I never went that far into before and it turned out that the cut wire was the black/white to my powersteering pressure sensor! Why was that cut? I dont see how it would have affected any of my systems... so I repaired the wire(know what they say about curiosity) and it doesnt seem to have changed anything at all...keep in mind that I have been driving this car for about 4 years and that wire to the pressure sensor has been cut that whole time.
AND...I think my short is finally gone!!!:grinyes: Having it checked tomarrow morning, just to be shure that the TCC is still functioning properly.
But I dont know for shure what fixed the problem(if it is indeed fixed) because I fixed that wire and removed the alarm system from my car(I can put it back in less than 10 mins)...oh and I 'juggled some wires from the cruse control(it hasnt worked since Ive owned the car :frown:) around a bit and the short seems to be gone...keep your fingers crossed wright :icon16:

go check out Jeg's, they have an item on sale you amy interested in:
Painless wirring harness :D
Man, I thought my car was hacked up bad. But atleast with mine they never heard of connectors or soldering and jsut twisted the wires together and slapped some tape over it :shakehead

Well its official...the TCC is functioning properly and the short is gone!!!
You really dont know the half of it wright...my car only exists because it is a hack job...it was built at a salvage yard my uncle owns...the doner cars were a V6 RS, a V8 RS and a Z28...and they chose to use the V6!!! talk about not thinking that one through :screwy: But I cant complain, expecially with how well the 2.8 has held up...after 165k, it gets about 20mpg and still doesnt burn a single drop of oil *knock on wood*...lol
But aside from the issue with that one wiring harness...the electrical has remained 'relatively' unmolested...cant say the same for my girlfriend :evillol:

nothing could have been wired worse than my 87 iroc...the guys who owned it before me caught it on fire under the hood and ruint everything...they swapped the 305 tpi for a tbi 305 and used the same harness, over half was melted and just hanging there going to nothing, shoe strings holding stuff together....nothing could be worse than that!

I still don't understand why people want to bypass VATS.

in its early years of production is suffered from defects of early wear and malfunction.

ah. What years were early years? It possible to upgrade to a newer version (besides it being a PITA) as opposed to bypassing it?
Genopsyde

89-94, i think, don't quote me on those numbers. yes i'm sure it can be upgraded, replaced, repaired, but i'm sure it's tedious and expensive therefore the cheap easy bypass is the route most taken. mine hasn't had a problem, yet, but i'll probably bypass it as well since i'm installing a viper system once everything else is done.

:sorry: Sorry everyone...I remembered that I just put all the trim pannels back in my car correctly last weekend and I dont want to take everything apart again(gettin lazy :grinyes:)
The next time I take this stuff out probably(hopefully) wont be till summer so I wont be checking this idea for a while.
If someone else wants to give it a shot, then great, but I just have too much going on...Calculus test next week:crying:

i just recently bought a 93 cadillac eldorado. i drove it for a week then i hopped in it one morning and it said starting disabled due to theft detterrent system. considering replacing the damaged part is minimum $300 and it will eventually break again(cadillac dealership even told me so). i dont want any theft detterrent system on my car that counts me as a thief even once. the cadillac dealership said they would not disable the system for me either. seems to me that cadillac should be responsible for repairing this considering it seems to go wrong with every vehicle its on. maybe thats just me tho
