Srt 10

The SRT-10 is quite a Truck. However, I think the cost will make the truck a dream for 99.9% of those people who would like to own one. I have seen projections ranging from the late $30's to the high $40's. :::Handing each of these people a crack pipe::: If anyone believes this truck is going to be priced anywhere under $50k then enjoy the pipes I send you. The SRT-10 will most likely be stickered in the upper $50's and to that end I could just not see paying that much for a pick-em-up truck...even if it has some low-hangin', Hungry Jack, big boy balls.
Secondly, I simply love all of the Lightning envy - everyone wants to own the truck so the Lightning will be placed in the Silver Medal postion. What is so interesting is that the Lightning can easily achieve 500hp and well over 500 ft/lbs of torque with some very basic tweaks. Furthermore, the weight is significantly less and the price much less expensive. I could purchase a Lightning and have the same specs as one of these SRT-10s and still have enough left over to buy a Master Craft ski boat or a battery of 4 waverunners.
Anyways, figured I would chip in my two cents and give you a few observations. I am anxious for the flames and even more anxious to smoke an overpriced Dodge most of the readers on this board will only ever be able to dream about...Until Then - I Remain :flipa:

Still, the STR-10 Ram is natural power...plenty of room for some turbos or a blower under that hood. Who cares if the truck is 50 grand? If you're gonna spend 50k for a truck, you'll probably spend another 10-20k to make it double the hp. Besides, 500hp is the stock hp...not a tweaked number. 800+ hp is realizable with that V10.

One of the caveats to your thinking is the underlying presumption you will be able to tweak the Dodge engine. A basic knowledge of the E46 M3 engine is precisely this point - the compression is too high for any tweaking outside of some basic exhaust work. Furthermore, a streetable automobile with some "tweaks" at 800hp? lol There maybe a few exceptions to the rule, but I would bet dollars to donuts you will not see some "tweaking" add 300hp to this V10 - if so, it will cost MUCH more than your anticipated amount. But don't get me wrong, I get a chubby when I see this monster - I just think it is a pipe dream to see it priced where people are expecting it...

Just like the viper there will be a FACTORY option for a S/C. The truck remains under warranty... Just admit it, the lightning is done. Try not to forget you're defending a Ford.

A factory option for a Supercharger? Awesome...where is the info on this? - I hope you are right! Regardless, I am not sure why you keep making this a Ford vs. Dodge debate? I drive a Ford Lightning because it is the fastest production truck on the road. If the Dodge SRT 10 makes it into production close to the $50k pricetag then I will be driving one.
I am not a narrow-minded fool who only drives one manufacturer as it seems you may. My wife drove a Volvo T5 stationwagon until Audi came out with their monster. I am driving a Lightning until the next best truck comes along. If Dodge has a superior product then that is what I will be driving. However, do not be schocked when Ford unveils a V-10 Lightning in response to the Dodge. Afterall, they finally made a Cobra with some balls after bamboozling so many Cobra Mustangs - thus the class-action.
Go back and read the posts again: my point was that people were underestimating the final cost of one of these SRT 10s and your leap to an 800 HP truck with some basic mods seems a bit far fetched. But if you want to continue the "Found On Road Dead" rhetoric then please do - it reveals your ignorance. :flipa:  :flipa:

I never said basic. Probably for basic mods you would get maybe 50hp max. The potential, however, is far greater. Turbos or blowers are very real possibilities for the Ram, as these mods have been done many times on Vipers before. The price is high though, which makes the +400hp turbo system rather rare.
As for "tweaks" I'm not sure that I understand what you mean? Exhaust work? Yes. Intake work? Yes. What else is considered a tweak? I'm fairly sure that Dodge hasn't even licked the surface of the possibilities of the new SRT-10.
Now, as for my personal preference, I like naturally aspirated engines more than those with blowers or turbo or nitrous. Supposing you took a blower, ran the same amount of boost, and stuck it on the Ram, you could probably make about 650+ hp.

first off the ram can be modified, like the viper, with a venom package. how do i know, 1) i asked a local shop that intsalls them, Hennessey Motorsports, and 2) its the same engine as the viper why the hell couldn't you
second the only reason people think that the ram will be priced in the 30's and 40's is cause dodge said that they will be competitively pricing it against the lighting. now unless ford and svt are planning on doing somthing to the lightning and raise the price then it should be in that range. now if they do otherwise then that is a different story

this is kinda late but still...
the srt 10 will be priced around the same as the lightning...i say this because if you look at the viper one of the main reasin its so expensive is cuz it doesn't have an existing car to be based off of, unlike the lightning (F-150) and the SRT-10 (Ram 1500) i mean look at what ford and svt do...ford makes the f-150 and sends it to svt and then svt does what they do then it gets released....Dodge and PVO will be doin the same thing with the Ram 1500 so with that said the price will be in the same general range as the lightning
