I know you guys have seen this.. I Colored the taillights to only have a strip of clear where the "bulbs" are. I just took some better pictures in my room when the sun was shining in the window.. I would get nice shots if I had a ride to the lakes right now..
( anyone want me to take a picture of diecast with Minneapolis City skyline in the background with a lake? )
Thanks for the look!

come on people.. its not that bad is it.. when I first posted this van there were more positive comments.. any suggestions on how to make it better would be nice.. now the only way I think it would be nice is if I made it look like it was in a accident.. but my girl baught it for me and she would be PISSED!
Mainly a light show like I said.. headlights, tail lights, underglow, wheel wells, front seats, rear seats, engine compartment, amps/ subs in the rear.. and im going to try to figure out how to get the tv's to glow around them or something like that

That van is definitely huge and heavy. (I got one in black)
Go ahead and do a light show on it. Probably put some lights on the wheels too. :grinyes:
Did you get the van with the mirrors torn off or did you do that?

the mirrors are in a parts box.. one broke off so I took them both off.. im trying to find some better looking ones.. THIS VAN IS REALLY HEAVY! jada has extremely heavy castings.. might change the color.. dont know tho

Don't. The ghost flames are hard to make up. (which also sets it off)

Don't worry about those that don't like it. It's your project... :)

yeah I was also thinking about the ghoats flames... I think the red looks good.. mabye a little to much with the red headlights.. but it looks alot better in person.. for some reason the pictures make it look really really boxy.. not like in person.. anyone with a astro will know what im talking about

I didn't see the first thread. Looks fine to me but I'm not a DUBB kind of guy. What scale is it? Who manufactured it? Suppose its still being produced? I'd like to do a model of my B-17 AstroVan if I could find a die-cast similar.

Jada toys makes it.. and its 1:18th scale. You can also get the 1:24th scale off of collectablediecast.com

Call me up Scarface. THat van will look sweet when you do a light show

keep the color. jada's are way tooo heavy for the lack of detail. i have a 1/18 dodge ram from them and it is just a lot heavier than many of my ohter diecasts.

G35XAndTrailBlazer
02-24-2006, 01:29 PM
Because they are thick. i mean, the metal is thicker than usual diecasts

scarface199

the metal is unbelievably thick.. but that doesnt mean that you can just drop it.. cause they will still break.. trust me.. I know with the Impala that I was doing before if anyone remembers that!
the bodies should have more detail.. I mean its not that bad ( jada ) for how much they are for a car ya know?

if they used thinner metal it would be cheaper. don't know why they don't do it. yeahi rmember that impala!
