Speaker Sizes?

I have 95 Jimmy 2dr with the 4x6 speaker in the dash, 6.5 in the door and the 6x9 in the rear panel. Does anyone know exact sizes (top mount depth etc) that will fit in there with out having to do any modifications? If you did it yourself can you tell me what you are running and what you think of them? Also, how do i get to the 6x9 in the back panel? I dont seem to see any screws so i'm guessing its all clips.
I did do a search on crutchfield.com and they gave a list of speakers that would fit, but i want to search around and see what other brands or models that would work that they do not list

Try checking the ez-fit guide on www.crutchfield.com
They are usually pretty informative.

I'm not sure what the depth is of the speaker locations, I have a 99, but I can highly recommend the speakers that I replaced my stocks with. I just recently swapped all of mine out with Infinity Reference Shallow INI6002I 6.5" and INI6402CFP 4X6" speakers. I found a great deal by looking on www.pricegrabber.com , the 6.5 were $58 and the 4X6 were $50.
Just look under Electronics > Car Audio > Car Speakers and search for Infinity.
I am very happy with the sound, especially with the directional tweeters. I get great seperation and fantastic sound - Highly Recommended.

You probably won't need speakers for the dash. Most Blazers didn't come with them, they have speaker grills, but no speakers.

Yea you really don't, i have a set of 6.5" MTX componets up front w/ a 4 CH kennwood running them, For the people in the front of the car its plenty at 80 watts per/ch RMS to make noise. Id say go with a good set of front and rear speakers and amp them if u budget is big enough and almost any one would be happy w/ that set up,

The front speakers are 4X6, and they aren't too bad to pull out. I did mine - all six, 2 front, 2 front doors, 2 back doors - and the total job only took about an hour and fifteen minutes.
I definately like my Infinity speakers. I think that they have the best sound, for my choice in music. I don't need really cranking bass, and if I did I would put in a subwoofer.

If you got the coaxials which the tweeter is built w/ the woofer, The Infins are one of the best, Most clear speakers on the market. The only reason i didn't get them is becuase I was able to get a set of 450 dollars speakers for........ 70 bux brand new haha i couldn't pass that up. BUt the Infin deff are a great speaker

The Speakers that I got are the coaxials with the directional tweeeters built in. I love them. You turn the tweeters to direct the sound upward, or on the back doors up and slightly forward driving, and in the dash directing toward the overhead console. The speakers surround the whole cabin in sound, and they have great definition throughout the spectrum.
Definately worth the money I paid for them. :grinyes:
What kind of speakers were you able to get at such a great deal? I won't even ask where you got them, don't want to become an accesory after the fact... :evillol:

they were MTX componets, The woofer and Tweeter are seperate for better sounds quality. I for get the model number but, one of the perks to wroking retail is when a new model comes out our old inventory gets a huge price cut. so w/ my employe discount and the price drop it was looking good for me haha. And yea deff a great set of speakers, If you would amp them or atleast the doors, you'll be amazed on what they can do. But even w/o an amp they sounds very good.

If your going to do a stereo the correct way, you need to have proper imaging. Acustically correct would be midrange ONLY in the doors, and place the tweeters in the dash or on the A post. My 99 came with speakers in the door and in the dash, Bose system. All i did was add a cross over to the dash, door, and rear speakers. Bought a small kenwood amp 150Watt, bridged, and put two JL audo 10's in the rear in sealed box. Its amazing, i had a nissan pulsar with 8 X the speakers and power and the blazer sounds better. For the proper way to do this follow this link http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/learningcenter/car/speakers_imaging_soundstage.html. They take it a bit to far, but it will give you the jist.
Some times less means more as far as sound goes. Good luck if you need more help Pm me.

I agree completly, When i said woofer in the door I meant A mid woofer, But i didn't wanna get to technical. I have the mid where that normal goes and i drilled out a hole above that where i put my tweeter and the speakers came w/ a crossover. than i have 2 10" audiobahns in the back in a sealed box. the front speakers have a 500/4 amp running them but only 2 ch are cuz i didn't feel the need for rear door speakers. My system sounds amazing. I listen to alot of metallica, and the S&M cd they have out ive listen to alot, After putting in my stero, I can actully here the pick hitting the gitar strings at certin solos in some of the songs, Thats impressive to me. ESP in blazers with all the air to move and noise waves bouncing off everything getting the right set up is key.

I took off the dash speaker covers on my 97 blazer and tried to put in a 4x6 speaker but it didn't fit, the speaker was way too big. It may be because it way a sony xplod speaker and I might need a different brand.

One of the guys already posted this but Infinity makes a shallow line of speakers. The have the same great quality just made for fitting in tight spots. you may wanna look for them.

That is the speaker that I was talking about. I used them in my truck, and they sound great. They have the "si" designation at the end of their model number i.e. INI6012si...
They are a shallower speaker, so they fit into smaller areas.

well it seemed like the 4x6 was also too wide. I don't think it just needs a shallower one because the width of it was also too long, it didn't fit in the space on the dash.

You can also use the 6 3/4 in the front doors as well.

You might want to try a straight 4" speaker. The 97 may not take a 4X6 in the dash. I have a 99 so it might be different.

I have a 98 Jimmy--infinity 4X6 6412CFP fit fine in the dash if you orient them the right way round and cut down the grille mounting post. The 6012S fit fine in the front doors (didn't need the shallow mount or the mounting rings.) Definately check ebay for some good deals. If you really want a good system, check out the Infinity Kappa series and a 2-ohm stable amp.

I've got a 1997 Blazer and I don't think they changed the dimensions much. The tricky ones are the 6.5s in your doors. They actually call for a 6.75, but most speaker manufacturers make 6.5s with extrnded plates. Also, if you want to still be able to use your windows and you are using the stock flush-mount, you need a shallow speaker. If I remember correctly, the max depth is roughly 2 3/4". I found a great speaker that fit this, Boston Acoustics N67. It sounds great, and is designed for use in limited spaces. They also make an awesome 4X6 plate that fits in your dash, the 746. If you are looking for clear highs and decent lows, I'd go with them. A little warning, the position causes the sound to deflect off the windshield, almost defening out the other speakers you have. Tweak the fade and your good to go. Hope this helps.
