Yesterday was a pretty nice day here in Michigan, but not quite top down kind of weather. So, I decided to take the afternoon off and go for a drive. So, I'm stopped at this stop light and probably a quarter mile after the light the two lanes merged into one. I was just sitting there listening to music when I see a Dodge Ram coming up to the light next to me. Just then the light turns green.
I'm at a stop, but he hasn't slowed down yet. I hear his truck downshift and since I'm at a stop, by the time I'm moving he already has a probably a good 2-3 carlengths on me. It was definetely a Hemi, because it seemed to have those chrome wheels. I didn't have time to launch or anything, so I just floored it in first. I went up to about 8800 rpms in first (rpms rise rather fast, and I'm not quite used to always getting it at perfect 9000 in first), I got up to his rear bumper, shifted to second, I passed him in second gear, and third gear sealed the deal, and I just let off the gas in top of third and he was a bit behind me, not sure how many car lengths.
When I got the car I swore that I'd keep a mature attitude with it, but it's really hard. I really don't want to race her anymore on the streets, I want to keep the racing to auto-x only.

Well, my brother has a Dodge Ram 1500 with the big chrome wheels and he doesn't have a Hemi. Doesn't matter, either way you'd wax him. The Hemis aren't that fast. It's hard to be fast when you weigh as much as a tanker and have the aerodynamic characteristics of a brick. :iceslolan
Anyhow, nice kill man. Get some pics or video of you auto-xing. I'd love to see them. Also, I'm sure I'm pretty late on this but congrats on the new car too.

Yeah, I was busy with moving, a new job, and I've been without the internet for a while, but now I'm back since things are back to normal.

yeah trying not to street race with a car like that is like trying to hold diarea when your near the toilet......but good luck...anyways congrats on the new whip when did you get it.....

I'm fairly sure it was a Hemi, just from the way that it pulled. Either that or I must have been shifting at 3000 rpms
It's pretty sad, but it seems like everyone around here drives either pickup trucks or SUVs and the younger drivers drive riced out econoboxes like Saturns and Stratuses with fart cans. Welcome to Michigan.

Good kill on the Hemi. The only hemi i'm impressed by is the one in the SRT Charger and 300C.
You shouldn't just limit that car to auto-xing. I'm really curious as to whether or not those are 13 sec. cars. Try your hand at drag racing for awhile. I have yet to see an S2000 in the 13's, even modded. I'd imagine it must be possible, as the rags have done it on multiple occassions, just takes an exceptional driver.

It takes one hell of a driver to cut a 13 pass with an S2K, becuase you have to rev it so high to get power outa it, its a hard launch. Its like the E46 M3s cutting 12s stock. I've seen them cut a high 12 bone stock, but it takes one hell of a driver.

Like the GTC for example? Good to see you back mang.
I was wondering if you could hold it to yourself and keep from street racing. I don't blame you for doing it though. I would too. You gotta test the waters sometimes. Ya know?

I plan on taking the car to the drag strip, and maybe meet up with Jayson. I'd like to wait a bit until I get back up on my feet financially and I can afford to replace a differential if I broke it. I'm pretty sure that the Honda warranty would get cancelled if I took it to the drag strip, right?

i know what u mean, hearing that engine rev to 9k has got to be sexy......i remember before i got my exhaust i would stay below 3k throughout all gears, and after the exhaust its been around 4k to 5k becuz im addicted to the loud exhaust when the pedal is to the metal!!http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/icons/icon5.gif

whats really funny is that 99% of the other cars around you when you put the pedal to the metal, are thinking, God i wish that kid would drive off a cliff. . .
clawhammer you dont have to tell Honda what you were really doing if something breaks. Just have the car towed home or to a dealership and tell them it happened in normal traffic.
Milan dragstrip opens up April 2nd i believe. As do most tracks in michigan.

Milan is a bit too far. If you're interested, I'd meet up at US 131 Motorsports, it's a bit closer to me than Milan, unless you can suggest something that's more in the middle. Here's their website: http://www.us131motorsportspark.com/Default.asp
I can't go Saturdays, but I'd go for this:
Wednesday May 3 Open Test & Tune 5:00pm-10:00pm
I figure if I'm going to go, I might as well go in May instead of July when at least I'll have a shot at 13s.

Milan is 190 miles from where I live. Are there any other ones which are maybe 100 miles for each of us? That'd be the best.

^talking about michigan, when i was like 14-15 yrs old, i worked at my aunt's restaurant during the summer in the Detroit area, she lives in Phalen Park, and while on the drive to the restaurant i'd see some pretty expensive cars, my cousin told me he'd seen some ferarris on that highway, i remember this one day this one guy at the restaurant gave me a ride home in his new car (i think it was the new integra or new civic, dont remember) and we went like 100+ mph in a tunnel, ah....i miss michigan

Hmm, not sure if that'd work... maybe.
But at the track they take down your insurance Information just incase you crash you can't say "oh dang, it was an accident."
It's not, if you're willing racing the car above 'normal speeds'.
