ok first, what the fuck :banghead:

second, this is a mix please help i have a problem/im gonna bitch thread so please bear with me

ok, i dont know if yall remember but i just got my 68 stang painted and am getting ready to put it back together and i only needed the eclipse for like one more month then i was gonna sell it, well im over at my girlfriends house tonight and when i go to leave my car wont start.

so heres some back story info

yesterday when i started my car to go to school i heard this crazy noise coming from the engine compartment on the drivers side, almost sounded like it was coming from the fender, it sounds like a ticking, rubbing, almost banging noise... im like what the fuck go to pop the hood and it stopped. so today i hear the noise again pop the hood and cant see anything wrong

then as im getting ready to leave my girlfriends house it wont start, its turning over it just wont start. so i try to start it like 5-6 times and finally pop the hood start looking around. two of the spark plug wires are just sitting on top of the plugs not snapped in, so once again im like what the fuck, and plug them back in thinking thats the problem. try to start the car and it still is turning over just wont start. like its not getting a spark but the wires are all still firmly plugged in. but i also notice my starter is making a weird almost grinding noise and when i stop turning the key in the ignition it makes a slow winding down noise that last about 5 sec.

im thinking:
a) maybe burned out the plugs/wires trying to start it/running it with only two plugged in (it'd be nice)
b)since only two plugs were plugged in and i tried to start it to many times it flooded and needs to sit (please god)
c) (this is the fun one) my starter has gone out/is going out (would my car still be turning over if the starter was out/going out?)

so please flood me with anything you can think of, after work tomarow im going over there and hopefully fixing it myself, i have hardly $200 dollars to my name right now and thats really mustang money that id rather not use for a tow truck, sorry this is so long but please any suggestions on what to try would be great...fucking dsm...sad thing is i still love it :screwy:

If the starter goes out then it will just set there humming when you try to start it but it won't crank at all... Thats just my experience with a starter going out though. Could be something else too.

I'll tell you what, trade me your evo 3 for my 14b and I'll tell you . try pulling the plugs and make sure your not flooded then check and see if your getting spark and you should find the problem while doing that.

first of all, take the plugs out and make sure they arn't completely shitting out on you, and screw them in good and pop the plug wires back on. i'm gonna assume you have gas...how old is the battery? ever had problems with the alternator?

do what eclipse said make sure the wires are going to the right plugs =) lol that noise coulda been the wire on the timing belt.... check to see if there is a weird mark or a line on the timing belt. When was the last time the plugs were changed? good luck man

If its cranking I cant see it being a power issue. Has to be spark fuel or compression. You could probably tell if you were flooding out because it would reak of gas most likely. I had the same probalem on my camry, I just help the gas pedle to the floor and cranked it and it started since in alot of cars it turns the pump off if you crank it at full throttle

yea ive got over a quarter tank of gas and the plugs have maybe 15,xxx on them>?

how could i check for flooding? and as far as i know the only fix for that is to let it sit right?

but the battery is only a couple months old, i replaced it and the alternator at the same time but its not a dead batter because the car is still trying to start, like turning over it just wont fire, like its not getting any spark.

so yea ill def. take new plugs with me tomarow and change em and hopefully blackcrow is right and my starter is fine, but keep these suggestions coming

Yikes, almost sounds like a timing problem. Hopefully it's not that but to me that sounds most likely. If you can't figure anything else out then do a compression test.

to check for flooding pull the plugs and see if you have a bunch of gas on the piston

on a turbo DSM you should change plugs at least every 10000 miles. ;)

Do you remember the last time you started your car, after it started did you hear like a weird noise following? like a weird electircal sound? If you didn't then the starter should be fine, usually if the starter is going bad it makes weird noises. (usually) Was there any corrosion on the plugs do you remember?

Wait, is the car still at your GF's house? Couldn't you just drive over there and see what's up? Meijer and wal-mart would have plugs and I think they're both 24/7. I know i couldn't sleep on this problem lol.

I think they both only sell champion's, which would be like trying to use hot-dogs for spark plugs.

allright, just got back from being out in the freezing ass cold working on the gs-t. replaced all four spark plugs, hooked up to another car (jumper cables), and put 5 more gallons of gas in it. and none of that helped a godamn thing... it's getting towed in the morning to go to the shop because my gf lives in one of those stupid ass gated communites and they said every day that my cars out there im gonna get a ticket, fucking pricks, so thanks for all the help, any more last minute ideas would still be appreciated, maybe save me a tow truck fee...

Get a few people to push it and get it going fast enough to where you can hop in and pop it into gear and start it?... If it don't work, then oh well a tow truck is coming either way. lol
